إِذَا كَان يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ كُانَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِمَامَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَخَطِيبَهُمْ

حدثنا أبو جعفر محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا السَّرِيُّ بن خُزيمة، حدثنا أبو حُذيفة النَّهْدي، حدثنا زهير بن محمد، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقِيل، عن الطفيل ابن أُبي بن كعب، عن أبيه، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "إذا كان يومُ القيامةِ كنتُ إمامَ النبيِّينَ وخطيبَهم وصاحبَ شفاعتِهم، غيرَ فَخْرٍ" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه لتفرُّد عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقيل بن أبي طالب، ولمَا نُسِبَ إليه من سوء الحفظ، وهو عند المتقدِّمين من أئمَّتنا ثقةٌ مأمونٌ! (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه لتفرُّد عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقيل بن أبي طالب، ولمَا نُسِبَ إليه من سوء الحفظ، وهو عند المتقدِّمين من أئمَّتنا ثقةٌ مأمونٌ! (2).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When it is the Day of Resurrection, I will be the leader of all the prophets, their orator, and the one entrusted with their intercession, and I do not say this by way of boasting."
The chain of this hadith is sahih, but the two Shaykhs did not record it because Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil bin Abi Talib is alone (in narrating it) and because of the poor memory attributed to him, even though in the view of our earlier imams he is trustworthy (thiqah) and reliable!

(1) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد حسن في المتابعات والشواهد كسابقه. أبو حذيفة النهدي: هو موسى بن مسعود، وزهير بن محمد: هو التميمي الخراساني.
Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and like the previous narration this chain is hasan in the light of corroborations and supporting reports.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Hudhayfah al-Nahdi is Musa bin Mas'ud, and Zuhayr bin Muhammad is al-Tamimi al-Khurasani.
وأخرجه أحمد 35/ (21245)، والترمذي بإثر (2613) من طريق أبي عامر العقدي، عن زهير بن محمد، بهذا الإسناد. وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن صحيح.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it (vol. 35, hadith 21245) and al-Tirmidhi immediately after hadith number (2613) through the route of Abu Amir al-Aqadi, from Zuhayr bin Muhammad, with this same chain.
Grading: Al-Tirmidhi declared it "hasan sahih".
وسيأتي عند المصنف برقم (7145) من طريق عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن زهير.
Note / Clarification: This narration will come further on with the author (al-Hakim) at number (7145) through the route of Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi from Zuhayr.
(2) كذا قال هنا! وفي "سؤالات السِّجزي له" (78) قال فيه: عُمِّر فساء حفظه فحدَّث على التخمين. وقوله هذا أقرب إلى رأي الجمهور فيه.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): That is what he said here! But in "Su'alat al-Sijzi" (78) he said about this narrator: "He lived to an old age, so his memory deteriorated and he began narrating hadith by conjecture (guesswork)."
Important point: This statement of his is closer to the view of the majority of the imams.
Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and like the previous narration this chain is hasan in the light of corroborations and supporting reports.
