Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2336

أخبرنا عبد الرحمن بن حَمْدان الجَلّاب بهَمَذان، حدثنا هلال بن العلاء الرَّقِّي، حدثنا المُعافى بن سليمان، حدثنا موسى بن أعْيَن، عن يحيى بن أيوب، عن ابن جُرَيج، أنَّ أبا الزُّبَير حدثه عن جابر: أنَّ النبي ﷺ اشترى من أعرابي - حسبت أنه قال: من بني عامر بن صَعْصَعَة - حِمْلَ خَبَطٍ، فلما وجبَ له، قال له النبيُّ ﷺ: "اختَرْ"، فقال الأعرابي: إن رأيتُ كاليوم مثلَك بَيِّعًا، عَمْرَكَ اللهَ ممَّن أَنتَ؟ قال: "من قُريش" (1). تابعه ابن وهب عن ابن جُرَيج:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought a load of fallen tree leaves from a Bedouin (the narrator said: I think he said: from Banu Amir bin Sa'sa'ah). When the sale became binding, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "(Even now, if you wish, you may) choose (to cancel the sale)." The Bedouin said: By Allah! I have never seen as fine a trader as you; may Allah lengthen your life, which tribe are you from? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am from Quraysh."

(1) حديث صحيح إن شاء الله، وهذا إسناد قد صرَّح فيه ابنُ جُرَيج بسماعه من أبي الزُّبَير - وهو محمد بن مسلم بن تدرُس المكي - هنا في هذه الطريق وفي الطريق التالية.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, in sha' Allah. In this chain Ibn Jurayj has explicitly stated that he heard it from Abu al-Zubayr.
ويحيى بن أيوب - وهو الغافقي - حسن الحديث لكن تابعه عبد الله بن وهب كما في الطريق التالية، فيصحُّ الحديثُ إن شاء الله تعالى، وانظر تمام الكلام عليه وتخريجه فيما سيأتي.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Yahya bin Ayyub is hasan al-hadith, and 'Abd Allah bin Wahb corroborates him, by which the hadith is established as sahih.
الخَبَط: ما سقط من ورق الشجر بالخَبْط والنَّفْض.
Linguistic explanation: "Khabat" refers to leaves that fall from a tree when it is beaten or shaken.
وقوله: "عَمْرَك اللهَ" أي: أسأل الله تعميرك وأن يُطيل عمرك، والعَمْر، بالفتح: العُمر، ولا يقال في القَسَم إلّا بالفتح.
Linguistic explanation: "'Amraka Allah" means "I ask Allah to grant you a long life". In an oath it is always read with a fathah.
والبَيّع: اسم يطلق على البائع والمشتري، يُقال لكل منهما: بائع وبيّع. ونصبه على التمييز.
Linguistic explanation: The word "bayyi'" is used for both the seller (ba'i') and the buyer (mushtari).
