(2). It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was shown what my Ummah will face after me, and their shedding of one another's blood, and this had already been decreed by Allah just as it was in the nations before. So I asked Allah to grant me the right of intercession for them on the Day of Resurrection, and Allah granted it."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. The hidden defect ('illah) in it, in their view, was that Abu al-Yaman narrated it in two ways: once he said "Shu'ayb from al-Zuhri from Anas", and another time he said "Shu'ayb from Ibn Abi Husayn from Anas". We have already stated that there is nothing objectionable in an imam having a hadith from two teachers, narrating it sometimes from one and sometimes from the other. And Abu al-Yaman himself clarified: This hadith is in fact al-Zuhri's hadith, and what I narrated from Ibn Abi Husayn was my mistake, caused by a leaf that I turned over. Imam al-Hakim said: This clarification is perfectly clear and acceptable, because Ibrahim bin Hani is trustworthy (thiqah) and reliable.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in the "Musnad" (vol. 45, hadith 27410) by way of Abu al-Yaman with this same chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Yahya bin Ma'in corroborated Ibrahim bin Hani' on this meaning. Ibn Asakir narrated in his "Tarikh" (vol. 15, pp. 72-73) with a strong chain from Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Aban al-Harrani that he asked Yahya bin Ma'in about this hadith, and Yahya said: I asked Abu al-Yaman, and he said that this hadith actually belongs to al-Zuhri; so whoever wrote it from me as a hadith of al-Zuhri was correct, and whoever wrote it from me as a hadith of Ibn Abi Husayn made a mistake, because I had written it at the end of the hadith of Ibn Abi Husayn, then by mistake I narrated it as his narration, whereas it is sahih as a hadith of al-Zuhri. This is what Yahya bin Ma'in said.
