It is narrated from Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she used to take loans frequently. When she was asked about this, she said: "I will not stop taking loans, because there is help from Allah for it, and I am always seeking that help."

Grading: The hadith is "sahih", but this chain is weak because Ziyad bin Amr and Imran bin Hudhayfah are majhul (unknown) Technical note / Defect ('illah): The more likely view is that it is a mursal report from Imran bin Hudhayfah that Maymunah used to take loans, as al-Daraqutni pointed out in "al-Ilal" (4016); there was disagreement over it on Mansur, and all who narrated it from Maymunah other than al-Hakim made its last part marfu'. Note / Clarification: Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi is Hisham bin Abd al-Malik, Jarir is Ibn Abd al-Hamid and Mansur is Ibn al-Mu'tamir. Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (6239) and Ibn Hibban (5041) narrated it through the chain of Jarir from Mansur; this narration is mursal, but its last part is marfu' (a saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him). Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (2408) narrated it through the route of Ubaydah bin Humayd from Mansur; he made it connected (muttasil) and gave the last part as marfu'. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it at (44/ 26816) through the route of Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd as marfu' Technical note / Defect ('illah): Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd narrated a hadith of Maymunah in the two Sahihs through Kurayb, which means that he did not hear directly from Maymunah. Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (6240) narrated it as mursal through the route of Ubayd Allah bin Abd Allah Technical note / Defect ('illah): According to al-Daraqutni, its being "mursal" is the more correct view (ashbah). Important point: Through the combination of all these routes this hadith is judged sahih, if Allah wills; it is established that both Maymunah and A'ishah used to take loans and narrated this hadith, and Allah knows best.
