Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2234

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to take loans. She was asked: "Why do you take loans?" She said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whenever a servant has the intention of repaying his debt, he receives help from Allah." So I am always seeking that help.
Its supporting narration (shahid) is the hadith of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her).

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrih" (sahih due to other reports) on the strength of its supporting reports; its narrators are thiqah, but the chain is "munqati'" (broken)
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Because Muhammad bin Ali (Imam al-Baqir) did not hear from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), so his narration here is "mursal".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it at (40/ 24439, 41/ 24679, 24993, 43/ 25977, 26127) through various routes from al-Qasim bin al-Fadl, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Mu'jam al-Awsat" (7608)
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Through this route the hadith is known only from the narration of Sa'd bin al-Salt; only Shadhan narrated it from him, and only his son from Shadhan, and we did not find a biography (tarjamah) of his son; so such a narrator's narrating a chain like this on his own is not acceptable.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: But it has supporting reports through which this hadith becomes sahih, if Allah wills; among them:
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of Abu Hurayrah in Sahih al-Bukhari (2387) and elsewhere, whose wording is: "Whoever takes people's wealth intending to repay it, Allah will repay it on his behalf; and whoever takes it intending to destroy it, Allah will destroy him".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Also the hadiths of Maymunah and Abd Allah bin Ja'far, which will come after it.
