It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so has a date palm (in my garden), and because of it I cannot set my wall straight. Order him to give it to me so that I can complete my wall." the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to that man: "Give it to him, and in return you will have a tree in Paradise." But he refused. Then Abu al-Dahdah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and said: "Sell me this tree of yours in exchange for my whole garden." He made the deal. Abu al-Dahdah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have bought that tree in exchange for my garden; give it to him (the one who asked)." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said several times: "How many heavy, fruit-laden clusters of dates there are for Abu al-Dahdah in Paradise!" Then he went to his wife and said: "O Umm al-Dahdah, come out of this garden, for I have sold it for a tree in Paradise." She said: "You have made a most profitable deal" (or words to that effect).
