Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 206

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to ride a donkey, wear woollen clothing, tie the leg of a goat himself, and show hospitality and consideration to guests.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the conditions of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. I have mentioned these habits and virtues in these places because these qualities are part of faith. It also has a supporting report (shahid) which Zabban (a narrator) narrates alone, and the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Correction: The printed edition has "Abu Bakr bin Muhammad", which is wrong; the correct name is "Abu Bakr Muhammad".
Note / Clarification: The narrator's nisbah "al-Madani" refers to the city of Naysabur, but the more correct form of this nisbah is "al-Madini" (with an added ya'), and al-Sam'ani mentioned him in "al-Ansab" under (al-Madini).

Technical note / Correction: In manuscript (S), the word is written "mada'at" with the letter dal.

Grading: It is sahih due to the preceding supporting report, and this chain is hasan because of the teacher of al-Hakim.
Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar narrated it in abridged form in his Musnad (3128) through the chain of Bishr bin Khalid.
