Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Hasan li-ghayrihi: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi", but this chain is weak because the uncle of Abd Allah bin Abd al-Rahman bin Mawhab (Ubayd Allah bin Abd Allah bin Mawhab) is unknown (majhul); Muhammad bin Yazid al-Rifa'i is also weak, but he has been corroborated.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (15/9785) narrated it from Waki' bin al-Jarrah, with this chain.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (3926, al-Risalah edition) narrated by way of Yahya bin Ubayd Allah bin Abd Allah bin Mawhab, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no servant who raises his hands until his armpit shows, asking Allah for something, except that He grants it to him, as long as he does not become hasty."
Grading: Yahya bin Ubayd Allah is "matruk al-hadith".
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (3925) narrated by way of al-Layth bin Abi Sulaym, from Ziyad, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No man makes a supplication except that it is answered: either it is hastened for him in this world, or stored up for him in the Hereafter, or some of his sins are expiated in proportion to what he asked, as long as he does not pray for a sin or the cutting of family ties, or become hasty."
Grading: This chain is weak because of the weakness of Layth bin Abi Sulaym, and there is disagreement over the identity of his teacher Ziyad.
Note / Clarification: These two hadiths, along with a few others, are not in the base manuscripts of al-Tirmidhi in the narration of al-Karukhi, which is why they do not appear in Shaykh Ahmad Shakir's edition. They are established in a manuscript we have in the narration of Abu Hamid al-Tajir and Abu Dharr al-Tirmidhi from Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi, from which we included them in the Mu'assasat al-Risalah edition; they are also established in the copy used by al-Mizzi in "Tuhfat al-Ashraf" and by al-Mubarakpuri in "Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) has already passed under number (1837).
