حدَّثَناه أبو بكر محمد بن داود بن سليمان، حدثنا محمد بن أيوب الرَّازيُّ وإبراهيم بن شَريكٍ الكوفي، قالا: حدثنا أحمد بن عبد الله بن يونس، حدثنا كامل بن العلاء، عن حَبِيب بن أبي ثابت، عن ابن عباس. وعن أبي يحيى، عن مجاهد، عن ابن عباسٍ قال: أفضلُ العِبادة الدعاءُ، وقرأ: ﴿وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ﴾ (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "The most excellent worship is supplication." Then he recited this verse: "And your Lord has said: Call upon Me; I will respond to you. Indeed, those who are too proud to worship Me will soon enter Hell, humiliated." [Surah Ghafir: 60]

(1) إسناده صحيح. سفيان: هو الثوري، ومنصور: هو ابن المعتمر، والأعمش: هو سليمان بن مهران، ويُسيع الحضرمي: هو ابن معدان الكندي.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note: Sufyan is al-Thawri, Mansur is Ibn al-Mu'tamir, al-A'mash is Sulayman bin Mihran, and Yusay' al-Hadrami is Ibn Ma'dan al-Kindi.
وأخرجه أحمد 30/ (18436)، والترمذي (3247) من طريق عبد الرحمن بن مهدي، بهذا الإسناد. وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن صحيح.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (30/18436) and al-Tirmidhi (3247) narrated it by way of Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi, with this chain. Al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan sahih".
وأخرجه أحمد (18352) عن عبد الرزاق الصنعاني، عن سفيان الثوري، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (18352) narrated it from Abd al-Razzaq al-San'ani, from Sufyan al-Thawri.
وأخرجه أحمد (18386) و (18391) و (18432)، وابن ماجه (3828)، والترمذي (2969) و (3372)، والنسائي (11400) من طرق عن الأعمش وحده، به.
