It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, on the hump of every camel there is a devil, so put them to use by riding them, for the One who carries is none other than Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The isnad is hasan on account of Ibn Abi al-Zinad (Abd al-Rahman bin Abd Allah). Criticism of a narrator: Al-A'raj is Abd al-Rahman bin Hurmuz. Reference / Source: Ibn Khuzaymah (2547) narrated it via Yunus bin Abd al-A'la from Abd Allah bin Wahb with this same chain. (1641). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A supporting report (shahid) for it is the earlier hadith of Abu Las (may Allah be pleased with him) (no. 1641). Important point: The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "fa-imtahinuhunna bi al-rukub" (put them to use/tame them by riding): al-Munawi says in "Fayd al-Qadir" that its purpose is to make the animal submissive, and the fierceness in the animal's nature is removed by riding and the remembrance of Allah. It is as though he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: calm this arrogance through riding combined with the remembrance of Allah, which drives away Satan. Important point: The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "fa-innama yahmilu Allah 'azza wa jall" (it is Allah alone who carries): that is, a person should not become proud of the animal carrying him, for the real carrier is Allah.
