حدثنا أبو بكر أحمد بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا علي بن عبد العزيز، حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل والحجاج بن مِنْهال، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن قَتادة، عن عِكْرمة، عن ابن عباس: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن الشُّرب من فِي السِّقاء، وعن الجَلَّالة، والمُجَثَّمة (1).
هذا حديث صحيح قد احتجَّ البخاري بعكرمة، واحتج مسلم بحماد بن سلمة، ثم لم يخرجاه (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking (directly) from the mouth of a waterskin, and (forbade) the jallalah (an animal that feeds on filth) and the mujaththamah (an animal that is tied up and made a target until it is killed).
This hadith is sahih (authentic). Imam Bukhari used Ikrimah as evidence and Imam Muslim used Hammad bin Salamah as evidence, yet they did not record it.

Grading: Its isnad is sahih.
وأخرجه أبو داود (3719) عن موسى بن إسماعيل وحده، بهذا الإسناد. لكن لم يطلق النهي عن الجلّالة، وإنما قيده بالنهي عن ركوبها.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (3719) narrated it from Musa bin Isma'il alone with this same chain, but there the prohibition is restricted to riding only, not a general prohibition.
وأخرجه أحمد 3/ (1989) و 4 / (2671) و 5 / (2949)، وأبو داود (3786)، والترمذي (1825)، والنسائي (4522) و (6837) من طريق هشام الدستوائي، عن قتادة، به. ووقع في رواية هشام هذه تقييد النهي بالنهي عن لبن الجلالة. وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن صحيح.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (3/ 1989 and elsewhere), Abu Dawud (3786), al-Tirmidhi (1825) and al-Nasa'i via Hisham al-Dastuwa'i from Qatadah. In Hisham's narration the prohibition relates to the milk of the jallalah (an animal that feeds on filth). Imam al-Tirmidhi declared it hasan sahih.
وقد ورد في غير حديث ابن عباس النهي عن لحوم الجلالة، وسنفصل ذلك فيما سيأتي برقم (2278) إن شاء الله.
Details of the narration: In hadiths other than that of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), the prohibition of the meat of the jallalah is also reported, the details of which will come later at no. (2278), in sha' Allah.
وسيأتي الحديث من طريق الأسود بن عامر عن حماد بن سلمة برقم (2528).
Details of the narration: This hadith will come later via al-Aswad bin 'Amir from Hammad bin Salamah at no. (2528).
ومن طريق سعيد بن أبي عروبة عن قتادة برقم (2278)، وذكرنا هناك شواهد الحديث وغريبه ومعناه. ومختصرًا بالنهي عن الشرب من في السقاء من طريق خالد الحذاء عن عكرمة برقم (7391)، وزاد هناك النهي أن يتنفس في الإناء.
Reference / Source: It is mentioned via Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah from Qatadah at no. (2278), where its supporting reports and meanings are explained. The prohibition of drinking from the mouth of a waterskin is in the narration of Khalid al-Hadhdha' (no. 7391), which also includes the prohibition of breathing into the vessel.
وبرقم (7292) من طريق سلمة بن وهرام، عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس، ولفظه: نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن اختناث الأسقية … وفيه قصة.
