It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best servants of Allah are those who pay attention to the sun, the moon, the stars and the shadows for the remembrance of Allah (the prayer)."
This chain is sahih. Abd al-Jabbar al-Attar is trustworthy, and the two Shaykhs used Ibrahim al-Saksaki as evidence; and when a hadith is sound in this way, the words of those who corrupted its chain do not harm it.

Grading: This hadith is da'if (weak) because of "idtirab" (inconsistency in the chain and text). Technical note / Defect ('illah): There has been variation in Mis'ar bin Kidam's narration from Ibrahim al-Saksaki; Sufyan bin Uyaynah narrated it from Ibn Abi Awfa as "marfu'", while Mis'ar's other students narrated it as "mawquf" upon Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him). Important point: Al-Bazzar declared the mawquf version to be the correct one. The real defect in this chain is the memory of Ibrahim bin Abd al-Rahman al-Saksaki, which is not very strong. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it (1/379) via Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Al-Husayn al-Marwazi (additions to Zuhd Ibn al-Mubarak: 1304), al-Bazzar (3351), al-Tabarani (al-Du'a': 1876), Abu Tahir al-Mukhallis (3102), Abu Nu'aym (al-Hilyah: 7/227), al-Baghawi (398) and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi narrated it through various routes from Abd al-Jabbar bin al-Ala'. Reference / Source: Yahya bin Ṣa'id (additions to al-Zuhd: 1305) and al-Bazzar (3350) narrated it through the route of Yahya bin Abi Bukayr from Sufyan bin Uyaynah. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a marfu' narration from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) (Abd bin Humayd: 1438, al-Bayhaqi: 1/379), but it is weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the chain of Abd bin Humayd, Aban bin Abi Ayyash is "matruk" (abandoned), and in the chain of al-Bayhaqi there are unknown narrators. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A marfu' narration from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) is also found in al-Tabarani (al-Awsat: 4808), but its chain is weak. Note / Clarification: This narration mentions that "those who watch the sun" means the mu'adhdhins (callers to prayer).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The author (al-Hakim) has made an oversight here, because Muslim did not narrate anything from this narrator.
