It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about (the hardship of) walking. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) called them and said: "Keep to nasalan (walking briskly with light, springing steps)." So we began walking that way, and we found it lighter and easier for us (than ordinary walking).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, and they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its isnad is sahih. Criticism of a narrator: Ibn Jurayj is Abd al-Malik bin Abd al-Aziz, and Ja'far bin Muhammad is Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (may Allah have mercy on him). Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Adab" (667) via the chain of Imam al-Hakim. Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Bazzar (Kashf al-Astar 1663), Ibn Khuzaymah (2737), al-Tabarani and Abu Nu'aym via various routes from Rawh bin 'Ubadah. Details of the narration: Ibn Khuzaymah and Abu Ya'la mentioned it within the narration of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the year of the Conquest of Makkah, when the Companions travelling on foot grew tired, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seek help in nasal (a brisk pace), for it covers the ground quickly and you will feel lighter through it."
Clarification: This hadith will come later via another route from Rawh bin 'Ubadah at no. (2522). Important point: "Al-nasalan" (with fathah on the nun and the sin) means to hasten one's walk. Al-Khattabi says it is a kind of running, like the running of a wolf.
