Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1598

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) travelled in Ramadan, and the fast became very hard for one of his Companions, to the point that his mount began to wander aimlessly with him under a tree. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to break his fast. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a vessel of water, placed it on his hand, and drank in front of the people.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

He (peace and blessings be upon him) called him, ordered him to break his fast, and said: Is it not enough for you to be in the path of Allah and with the Messenger of Allah, that you must also fast! It was said to him (peace and blessings be upon him) that the fast had become hard on the people and that they were waiting to see what he would do. He (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a cup of water and raised it so high that everyone could see, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) drank the water. Afterwards he was told that some people were still fasting, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said (twice): "Those are the disobedient ones, those are the disobedient ones."
