حدثنا أبو أحمد بكر بن محمد الصَّيْرفي بمَرُو، حدثنا أبو قلابة الرَّقاشي، حدثنا أزهَرُ بن سعد، حدثنا حاتم بن أبي صغيرة، عن أبي بلج، عن أبي بكر بن أبي موسى، عن أبيه قال: ذُكِرَ الطاعونُ عند أبي موسى الأشعريِّ، فقال أبو موسى: سألنا عنه رسول الله ﷺ، فقال: "وَخْزُ إخوانكم - أو قال (3): أعدائكم - من الجنِّ، وهو لكم شهادةٌ" (4).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه. وهكذا رواه أبو عَوَانة عن أبي بَلْج:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the plague was mentioned in his presence, so Abu Musa said: We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about it, and he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "It is a piercing from your (unseen) brothers - or he said: your enemies - namely the jinn, and for you it is (the rank of) martyrdom."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Muslim, but the two of them did not record it. Abu Awanah narrated it from Abu Balj in the same way:

(3) قوله: "أو قال" ليس في نسخنا الخطية، وأشار في حاشية (ص) إلى وجوده في نسخة.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The phrase "أو قال" is not in the manuscripts available to us; however, the margin of manuscript (S) indicates that it is present in another copy.
(4) إسناده حسن. أبو قلابة الرقاشي: هو عبد الملك بن محمد البصري الضرير، وأبو بلج: هو يحيى بن أبي سليم.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Qilabah al-Raqashi is "Abd al-Malik bin Muhammad al-Basri al-Darir", and Abu Balj is "Yahya bin Abi Sulaym".
وأخرجه الروياني في "مسنده" (514) عن نصر بن علي، عن أزهر بن سعد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Ruyani narrated it in his Musnad (514) through the chain of Nasr bin Ali from Azhar bin Sa'd.
وأخرجه البزار (3901) من طريق ابن أبي عدي، عن حاتم بن أبي صغيرة، به. وانظر ما بعده.
Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar (3901) narrated it via Ibn Abi Adi from Hatim bin Abi Saghirah.

وأخرج نحوه أحمد 32/ (19528) و (19743) من طريق زياد بن علاقة، عن رجل، عن أبي موسى. وجاء الرجل مسمّى عنده في (19744) بأسامة بن شريك.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated a similar narration (32/19528, 19743) via an unnamed man from Abu Musa, while at number (19744) the name of this narrator is explicitly given as "Usamah bin Sharik".
وله طرق أخرى عن أبي موسى تقوِّيه، ولذلك ذهب الحافظ ابن حجر في "الفتح" 17/ 511 - 512 إلى تصحيحه.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Other routes of it are also narrated from Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) which strengthen it; for this reason al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar declared it "sahih" in "Fath al-Bari" (17/511-512).
