أخبرني أبو عمرو محمد بن جعفر بن محمد العَدْل، حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن البَختَري، حدثنا عبيد الله بن معاذ، حدثنا أبي، حدثنا شعبة، عن عاصم، عن أبي العاليَة، عن ثَوْبان مولى رسول الله ﷺ قال: قال رسولُ الله ﷺ: "مَن تَكفَّلَ لي أن لا يَسألَ الناسَ شيئًا فأتكفَّلَ له بالجنة؟ " فقال ثوبان: أنا، فكان لا يَسألُ الناس شيئًا (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will guarantee me that he will not ask people for anything, and I will guarantee him Paradise?" Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I (give this guarantee)." So after that he would not ask anyone for anything.
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Muslim, but they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. معاذ: هو ابن معاذ العنبري، وعاصم: هو ابن سليمان الأحول، وأبو العالية: هو رُفيع بن مهران الرياحي.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Criticism of a narrator: Mu'adh is Ibn Mu'adh al-Anbari, Asim is Ibn Sulayman al-Ahwal, and Abu al-Aliyah is Rufay' bin Mihran al-Riyahi.
وأخرجه أبو داود (1643) عن عبيد الله بن معاذ، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (1643) narrated it through Ubaydullah bin Mu'adh with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 37/ (22374) عن محمد بن جعفر غندر، عن شعبة، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (37/ 22374) narrated it through Ghundar, from Shu'bah.
وأخرجه أحمد (22366) من طريق شريك بن عبد الله النخعي، عن عاصم الأحول، به.

وأخرجه أحمد (22385) و (22405) و (22423) و (22424)، وابن ماجه (1837)، والنسائي (2382) من طريق عبد الرحمن بن يزيد بن معاوية، عن ثوبان، به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (22385, 22405, 22423 and 22424), Ibn Majah (1837) and al-Nasa'i (2382) narrated it through Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid, from Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him).
(2) مكانها بياض في النسخ الخطية، وأثبتناها من "تلخيص الذهبي"، وفي "إتحاف المهرة" ¤ ¤ (2510): على شرطهما.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts there was apparently a blank space here; we completed it from "Talkhis al-Dhahabi". According to "Ithaf al-Maharah" (2510), it is on the condition of al-Bukhari and Muslim.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
