Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1506

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) made Sadaqat al-Fitr obligatory as one sa' of dates or one sa' of barley; and Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to give only dates (in his own practice).
This hadith is sahih on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not narrate in it the mention of "giving only dates".
