حدَّثَناه أبو الفضل محمد بن إبراهيم المزكِّي، حدثنا الحسين بن محمد ابن زياد القَبَّاني، حدثنا داود بن رُشيد، حدثنا مُعمَّر (2) بن سليمان، عن عبد الله بن بشر، عن الأعمش، عن أبي سفيان، عن جابر، عن عمر قال: دَخَلَ رجلان على رسول الله ﷺ فسألاهُ في شيءٍ، فدعا لهما بدينارين، فإذا هما يُثنيان خيرًا، فقال: "لكن فلانٌ ما يقول ذلك، ولقد أعطيتُه ما بين عشرةٍ إلى مئة فما يقول ذلك، فَإِنَّ أحدكم ليخرُجُ بصدقتِه من عندي متأبِّطَها، وإنما هي له نارٌ" فقلت: يا رسول الله، كيف تُعطيه وقد علمت أنه له نار؟ قال: "فما أصنَعُ؟ يَأْبَوْنَ إِلَّا أَنْ يسألوني، ويأبى الله لي البخل" (3). أما معمَّر بن سليمان الرَّقِّي فلم يخرجاه، وقد خرَّج مسلم عن عبد الله بن بشر الرَّقِّى (1)، إلّا أنَّ هذا الحديث ليس بعِلَّةٍ لحديث الأعمش عن أبي صالح، فإنه شاهد له بإسناد آخر.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that two men came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked for something. He (peace and blessings be upon him) had two dinars brought for them, and both of them began praising him. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "But so-and-so does not say such a thing, although I have given him between ten and a hundred (dinars), yet he does not praise like this. Indeed, one of you leaves me with the charity he has taken, tucked under his arm, although it is fire for him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Why do you give it to him when you know that it is fire for him?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What am I to do? They are not content with anything but asking, and Allah does not approve of my being stingy."
The two Shaykhs did not record from Mu'ammar bin Sulayman al-Raqqi, although Imam Muslim recorded from Abdullah bin Bishr al-Raqqi. But this hadith is not a defect ('illah) for the hadith of al-A'mash from Abu Salih; rather, it is a supporting narration for it through another chain.

Note / Clarification: In the chain, al-A'mash is Sulayman bin Mihran, Abu Sufyan is "Talhah bin Nafi' al-Wasiti", and Jabir is "Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him)".
وأخرجه البزار (235) عن نهار بن عثمان، عن معمر بن سليمان، بهذا الإسناد - وتحرَّف فيه معمَّر إلى: معتمر.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bazzar narrated it (235) through the chain of Nahar bin Uthman from Mu'ammar bin Sulayman.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Here too the name has been changed from Mu'ammar to Mu'tamir.
