It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away and the Arabs apostatised (in the matter of zakah), Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Abu Bakr! Do you intend to fight the Arabs? Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said only this: "I have been commanded to fight people until they bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and they establish the prayer and pay the zakah." So by Allah! If they refuse to give even a young goat which they used to give to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I will certainly fight them over it. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then when I saw that Allah had opened the chest of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to this view, I understood that it was the truth.
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (with an authentic chain). Although the two Shaykhs did not take the narration of Imran al-Qattan, they have no evidence for abandoning him, for his hadith is sound. A supporting narration (shahid) for it is the hadith of Abu al-Anbas, which the two Shaykhs did not record:

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note: (1) In the handwritten manuscripts it was distorted into "Dawud" (the correct form is Dawar).
Grading: (2) The hadith is sahih, but from the musnad of Abu Hurayrah; 'Imran bin Dawar al-Qattan erred in attributing it to Anas, whereas Ma'mar and other trustworthy narrators narrated it with the chain al-Zuhri from 'Ubaydullah from Abu Hurayrah (al-Bukhari 1399, Muslim 20). (3). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Nasa'i, Abu Hatim and Abu Zur'ah declared this narration of 'Imran al-Qattan an "error", and the correct position is that it is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah. (5895). Technical note: We say: 'Imran al-Qattan perhaps made this error because of the similar narration of Humayd al-Tawil from Anas, which contains the words "they pray our prayer and face our qiblah". (3970). Repetition: On this topic the narration of Jabir bin Abdullah will come later at number (3970). (8163). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: For the narrations of other Companions, see our commentary on Musnad Ahmad (8163). (Note / Clarification): "Al-'anaq": a female kid of a goat that has not yet completed one year.
