Bahz bin Hakim narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather (Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him)), who said: I heard the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Destruction is for the one who speaks and lies in order to make people laugh by it; ruin is for him, ruin is for him."
This hadith has been narrated from Bahz bin Hakim by imams such as Sufyan bin Sa'id, the two Hammads (Hammad bin Salamah and Hammad bin Zayd), Abd al-Warith bin Sa'id and Isra'il bin Yunus. I know of no disagreement among most of the imams of transmission regarding the integrity ('adalah, truthfulness) of Bahz bin Hakim; his hadith is collected, and Imam Bukhari mentioned him in his "al-Jami' al-Sahih". This hadith is a supporting narration for the hadith of Sayyiduna Bilal bin al-Harith al-Muzani that we mentioned earlier.

Reference / Source: Imam al-Bukhari mentioned it without a chain (ta'liq) in the Book of Ghusl (chapter: whoever bathes naked alone), before hadith number (278), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah is more deserving than people that one should be shy of Him".
