Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 128

حدثنا أبو أحمد بكر بن محمد الصَّيْرفي، حدثنا إسماعيل بن إسحاق القاضي، حدثنا سليمان بن حَرْب. وحدثني بُكير (1) بن الحدَّاد بمكة، حدثنا أبو مُسلِم، حدثنا حجَّاج بن مِنْهال؛ قالا: حدثنا حمَّاد، حدثنا أيوب. وأخبرنا أحمد بن جعفر القطيعي، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن حنبل، حدثني أبي، حدثنا إسماعيل، عن أيوب، عن أبي المَلِيح، عن أبي عَزَّة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "إذا أرادَ اللهُ قبضَ عبدٍ بأرض، جَعَلَ له إليها حاجةً" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح، ورواتُه عن آخرهم ثقات (3).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Azzah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah intends to take the soul of a servant in a certain land, He creates some need for him there."
This is a sahih (authentic) hadith, and all of its narrators are trustworthy.

(1) تحرَّف في المطبوع إلى: بكر.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The printed edition has a corruption here, and the name was printed as "Bakr".

(2) إسناده صحيح إسماعيل: هو ابن إبراهيم المعروف بابن عُليَّة، وأيوب: هو ابن أبي تميمة السَّختياني. وهو في "مسند أحمد" 24/ (15539).
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Note / Clarification: The narrator Isma'il is "Ibn Ulayyah" and Ayyub is "Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani".
Reference / Source: This narration is in "Musnad Ahmad" (24/15539).
وأخرجه الترمذي (2147)، وابن حبان (6151) من طرق عن إسماعيل ابن عُليَّة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (2147) and Ibn Hibban (6151) narrated it through various routes from Isma'il bin Ulayyah with this same chain.
وقال الترمذي: حديث صحيح.
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi declared it "sahih".

(3) وللحديث شاهد ثالث من حديث جندب بن سفيان سيأتي عند المصنف برقم (1373)، وإسناده صحيح.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A third supporting report of this hadith is the narration of Jundub bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him), which will come with the author at number (1373), and its chain is sahih.
