It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The believer is simple-hearted and noble (good-hearted), whereas the wicked (sinful) person is deceitful and base."
Abu Shihab Abd Rabbih bin Nafi' al-Hannat and Yahya bin al-Durays corroborated al-Thawri in establishing this chain.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscript (B) and the printed book the word here has been corrupted to "al-Anbari".
Grading: Because of the presence of al-Hajjaj bin Furafisah, this chain is "hasan". Reference / Source: Imam al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7763) via Abu Abdullah al-Hakim from Abu al-Hasan Ahmad bin Muhammad, with his chain. Reference / Source: Abu Ya'la (6008) and al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" (3129) narrated it through the route of Ahmad bin Janab. Note / Clarification: See also the discussion that follows. Note / Clarification: "Al-khibb" linguistically means a deceitful and cunning person. Note / Clarification: Regarding the words "The believer is ghirr and noble", Ibn al-Athir says in "al-Nihayah" that it refers to a person in whom there is no malice or craftiness; he is deceived because of his compliance and gentleness. Important point: The nature of the praiseworthy believer is that he is not very alert (cunning) where evil is concerned, nor does he search out the faults of others. This is not ignorance on his part but his nobility and fine character.
