1 «مَا أَكْرَمَ شَابٌّ شَيْخًا لِسِنِّهِ إِلَّا قَيَّضَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عِنْدَ شَيْبِهِ مَنْ يُكْرِمُهُ»

No young man honors an elder for his age except Allah appoints for him one who will honor him in his old age

2 hadith (801 — 802)

2 مَا امْتَلَأَتْ دَارٌ حَبَرَةً إِلَّا امْتَلَأَتْ عِبْرَةً

No house is filled with joy except it is filled with sorrow

3 مَا اسْتَرْعَى اللَّهُ عَبْدًا رَعِيَّةً فَلَمْ يُحِطْهَا بِنُصْحِهِ إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ

Whoever is entrusted with a flock by Allah and does not advise them, Allah forbids him Paradise

4 مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَسْتَرْعِيهِ اللَّهُ رَعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ يَوْمَ يَمُوتُ غَاشًّا لِرَعِيَّتِهِ إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ

No servant whom Allah puts in charge of others dies while deceiving them except Allah forbids him Paradise

5 مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا مِنْ وَزِيرٍ صَالِحٍ مَعَ إِمَامٍ يُطِيعُهُ وَيَأْمُرُهُ بِذَاتِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى

No Muslim man has a greater reward than a righteous minister with an imam whom he obeys and commands to obey Allah

6 مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ إِلَّا وَلَهُ ذَنْبٌ يُصِيبُهُ الْفَيْنَةَ بَعْدَ الْفَيْنَةَ، لَا يُفَارِقُهُ حَتَّى يُفَارِقَ الدُّنْيَا، وَإِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ خُلِقَ نَسَّاءً إِذَا ذُكِّرَ ذَكَرَ

Every believer has a sin he commits from time to time, and the believer is forgetful; when reminded, he remembers

7 مَا طَلَعَتْ شَمْسٌ إِلَّا بِجَنْبَتَيْهَا مَلَكَانِ يَقُولَانِ: اللَّهُمَّ عَجِّلْ لِمُنْفِقٍ خَلَفًا، وَعَجِّلْ لِمُمْسِكٍ تَلَفًا

Every day two angels call out: O Allah, give to the spender a replacement, and give to the withholder destruction

8 مَا ذِئْبَانِ ضَارِيَانِ فِي زَرِيبَةِ غَنَمٍ بِأَسْرَعَ فِيهَا مِنْ حُبِّ الشَّرَفِ وَالْمَالِ فِي دِينِ الْمَرْءِ الْمُسْلِمِ

No two hungry wolves set loose among sheep are more destructive than love of honor and wealth to a man's religion

9 مَا عُبِدَ اللَّهُ بِشَيْءٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ فِقْهٍ فِي دِينٍ

Allah has not been worshipped with anything better than understanding in religion

10 مَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ أُطِيعُ اللَّهَ فِيهِ بِأَعْجَلَ ثَوَابًا مِنْ صِلَةِ الرَّحِمِ

Nothing that Allah is obeyed in brings a quicker reward than maintaining family ties

11 مَا فَتْحَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بَابَ مَسْأَلَةٍ إِلَّا فَتْحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ بَابَ فَقْرٍ فَاسْتَغْنُوا

Whoever opens the door of begging, Allah opens for him the door of poverty, so be self-sufficient

7 hadith (816 — 822)

12 مَا يَنْتَظِرُ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا غِنًى مُطْغِيًا

What are you waiting for from this world except wealth that leads to tyranny

13 مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ وَصَبٌ وَلَا نَصَبٌ وَلَا سَقَمٌ وَلَا أَذًى وَلَا حُزْنٌ حَتَّى الْهَمَّ يَهُمُّهُ إِلَّا كَفَّرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ مِنْ خَطَايَاهُ

No fatigue, illness, sorrow, harm, or distress befalls a believer except that Allah expiates his sins thereby

14 مَا تَزَالُ الْمَسْأَلَةُ بِالْعَبْدِ حَتَّى يَلْقَى اللَّهَ وَمَا فِي وَجْهِهِ مُزْعَةُ لَحْمٍ

A servant continues to ask until he meets Allah with no flesh on his face

15 لَا يُلْدَغُ الْمُؤْمِنُ مِنْ جُحْرٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ

A believer is not bitten from the same hole twice

16 لَا يَشْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَنْ لَا يَشْكُرُ النَّاسَ

He who does not thank people does not thank Allah

17 «لَا يَرُدُّ الْقَضَاءَ إِلَّا الدُّعَاءُ، وَلَا يَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمُرِ إِلَّا الْبِرُّ»

Nothing repels destiny except supplication, and nothing increases lifespan except righteousness

18 لَا حَلِيمَ إِلَّا ذُو عَثْرَةٍ

No one is truly forbearing except one who has stumbled

It is not befitting for a believer to humiliate himself

It is not befitting for the truthful to be one who curses

It is not befitting for a two-faced person to be trustworthy with Allah

Flattery is only suitable for parents

38 لَا تَصْلُحُ الصَّنِيعَةُ إِلَّا عِنْدَ ذِي حَسَبٍ أَوْ دِينٍ

Good deeds are only suitable for those of lineage or religion

39 لَا طَاعَةَ لِمَخْلُوقٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ الْخَالِقِ

No obedience to the created in disobedience to the Creator

40 لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَبْدٌ لَا يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ

No servant will enter Paradise whose neighbor is not safe from his harm

41 لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ قَتَّاتٌ

A slanderer will not enter Paradise

It is not lawful for a Muslim to frighten another Muslim

43 لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرِئٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ

It is not lawful for a man to boycott his brother for more than three days

Charity is not lawful for the rich

People will not be destroyed until they excuse themselves

46 لَا يَسْتَقِيمُ إِيمَانُ عَبْدٍ حَتَّى يَسْتَقِيمَ قَلْبُهُ

A servant's faith is not upright until his heart is upright

47 لَا يُؤْمِنُ عَبْدٌ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

A servant does not believe until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself

48 لَا يَبْلُغُ الْعَبْدُ حَقِيقَةَ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَنَّ مَا أَصَابَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِيُخْطِئَهُ

A servant does not reach true faith until he knows that what befell him could not have missed him

49 لَا يَسْتَكْمِلُ الْعَبْدُ الْإِيمَانَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ فِيهِ ثَلَاثُ خِصَالٍ

A servant does not perfect faith until he has three qualities

50 لَا يَسْتَكْمِلُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَقِيقَةَ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى يَخْزُنَ لِسَانَهُ

None of you perfects true faith until he restrains his tongue

51 لَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ

Allah does not show mercy to one who does not show mercy to people

52 لَا يَشْبَعُ الْمُؤْمِنُ دُونَ جَارِهِ

A believer does not eat his fill while his neighbor is hungry

53 لَا يَشْبَعُ عَالِمٌ مِنْ عِلْمٍ حَتَّى يَكُونَ مُنْتَهَاهُ الْجَنَّةَ

A scholar is never satisfied with knowledge until his end is Paradise

54 لَا يَزْدَادُ الْأَمْرُ إِلَّا شِدَّةً

Matters only increase in severity

55 لَا يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ إِلَّا وَالَّذِي بَعْدَهُ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ

No time comes upon people except that which follows is worse

56 لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَقِلَّ الرِّجَالُ

The Hour will not be established until men become few

57 لَا يَسْتُرُ عَبْدٌ عَبْدًا فِي الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

No servant covers another in this world except Allah will cover him on the Day of Judgment

58 لَاخَيْرَ فِي صُحْبَةِ مَنْ لَا يَرَى لَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ مِثْلَ الَّذِي تَرَى لَهُ

There is no good in the company of one who does not see for you what you see for him

59 لَا تَذْهَبُ حَبِيبَتَا عَبْدٍ فَيَصْبِرُ وَيَحْتَسِبُ إِلَّا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ

If a servant loses his two beloved (eyes) and is patient and seeks reward, he will enter Paradise

60 لَا يَبْلُغُ الْعَبْدُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ حَتَّى يَدَعَ مَا لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ حَذَرًا لِمَا بِهِ الْبَأْسُ

A servant does not reach piety until he leaves what is harmless out of fear of what is harmful

61 لَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عَلَى الْحَقِّ ظَاهِرِينَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ

A group from my nation will remain manifest upon the truth until Allah's command comes

62 لَا تَزَالُ نَفْسُ الرَّجُلِ مُعَلَّقَةً بِدَيْنِهِ حَتَّى يُقْضَى عَنْهُ

A man's soul remains suspended by his debt until it is paid off

63 لَا يَزَالُ الْعَبْدُ فِي صَلَاةٍ مَا انْتَظَرَ الصَّلَاةَ

A servant remains in prayer as long as he is waiting for prayer

64 لَا تُظْهِرِ الشَّمَاتَةَ لِأَخِيكَ فَيُعَافِيَهُ اللَّهُ وَيَبْتَلِيَكَ

Do not show gloating to your brother lest Allah heal him and afflict you

65 لَا تَسُبُّوا الدَّهْرَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الدَّهْرُ

Do not curse time, for Allah is time

Do not curse the ruler, for he is Allah's shade on earth

Do not curse the dead, for they have reached what they sent ahead

68 لَا تَسُبُّوا الْأَمْوَاتَ فَتُؤْذُوا الْأَحْيَاءَ

Do not curse the dead lest you harm the living

A man should not reject his brother's gift; if he finds, let him reciprocate

Do not wipe your hand on the garment of one you do not clothe

Do not turn away the beggar, even with half a date

Do not promise your brother a promise and then break it

76 لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ

None of you should wish for death due to a calamity

77 لَا يَمُوتَنَّ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُحْسِنُ الظَّنَّ بِاللَّهِ

No one should die except thinking well of Allah

Do not envy one another nor artificially inflate prices

Do not be fault-finders nor excessive in praise

80 لَا تَعْجَبُوا بِعَمَلِ عَامَلٍ حَتَّى تَنْظُرُوا بِمَ يُخْتَمُ لَهُ

Do not be impressed by anyone's deeds until you see how his life ends

81 لَا يُعْجِبُكُمْ إِسْلَامُ رَجُلٍ حَتَّى تَعَلَّمُوا كُنْهَ عَقْلِهِ

Do not be impressed by a man's Islam until you know the reality of his mind

82 لَا تَجْعَلُونِي كَقَدَحِ الرَّاكِبِ

Do not make me like the cup of the rider

83 لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَهَابَةُ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُومَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذَا عَلِمَهُ

Let not the awe of people prevent you from speaking the truth when you know it

84 لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ فَإِنَّ ثَالَثُهُمَا الشَّيْطَانُ

No man should be alone with a woman, for the third is the devil

Do not please anyone by angering Allah

No one is destroyed after consultation

The flock will not perish even if they are unjust

Beware of what requires an apology

Beware the supplication of the oppressed, even if he is a disbeliever

Indeed, some speech is magic

Wisdom increases the noble in nobility

Whoever makes the lawful unlawful is like one who makes the unlawful lawful

The status of the people of this world is wealth

The least inhabitants of Paradise are women
