It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that one night my camel got lost. While searching for it, I passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who was preparing a mount for Sayyidah Aisha. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Jabir, what happened?" I replied: "My camel has gotten lost in this dark night." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Here is your camel, go and take it." I went in the direction the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated, but I did not find it there. I returned and said: "I did not find the camel." The same happened a second time. The third time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told me to wait, and after finishing, he took my hand and walked with me until we reached the camel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) handed it over to me and said: "Here is your camel."
People were traveling, and I too was riding my camel in my turn. My camel was slow, and I uttered: "Alas, even though I found my camel, it is so slow." Coincidentally, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was just behind me and heard my words. He came to me and said: "Jabir, what are you saying?" By that time, I had forgotten what I had said, so I replied: "I did not say anything." A little while later, I remembered and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I had said: 'Alas, even though I found my camel, it is slow.'" Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck the camel's tail with a whip, and immediately it became so fast that I had never ridden a faster camel before; it was almost running out of my hands.
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you sell your camel to me?" I nodded in agreement, so he asked the price. I mentioned one uqiyah of silver. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wonderful, wonderful! For one uqiyah, so many camels can be bought." I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in Madinah, there is no better camel than this in our view." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have bought it for one uqiyah." At this, I dismounted from my camel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What happened?" I replied: "The camel now belongs to you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ride your camel." I said: "Now it is not my camel, it is yours." We repeated this twice. The third time, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded, I did not repeat and mounted my camel.
Eventually, I reached my aunt in Madinah and told her: "Look, I have sold my camel to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for one uqiyah." She said: "I have never seen anything more astonishing than this, because our camel was very tired." Then I took a rope, put a bridle in its mouth, and brought it, leading it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing and talking to someone. I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), please take your camel." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took its bridle and called Sayyiduna Bilal, saying: "Weigh out one uqiyah of silver for Jabir and give it in full." So I went with Sayyiduna Bilal, and he weighed out one uqiyah of silver for me in full. I returned and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was still standing and talking to that man. I said: "He has given me one uqiyah of silver in full." Saying this, I absentmindedly started walking towards my home.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called out: "O Jabir, where did you go?" People informed him that I had gone home. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and call him back." So a messenger came running to me and said: "Jabir, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is calling you." When I presented myself, he said: "Take your camel." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, it is not my camel, it is yours." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take your camel." So I took it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By my life, we did not benefit you so that we could take away your mount." So I took the camel and one uqiyah of silver and went to my aunt and told her that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had given me one...

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for the expedition of Dhat al-Riqa’. In this expedition, a woman from among the polytheists was also killed. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) set out to return, the husband of that woman came back. When he saw his wife dead, he swore that he would not rest until he had shed blood among the companions of Muhammad. After taking this oath, he set out following the footprints of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reached a place and camped there, and said, “Who will keep watch tonight?” At this, a Muhajir and an Ansari volunteered and said, “O Messenger of Allah! We will do it.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Then do this: go and keep watch at the mouth of this mountain pass,” because they had camped in a mountain pass. When both of them reached there, the Ansari asked the Muhajir, “Which part of the night do you prefer that I suffice for you? The first or the last?” He said, “You take the first part, and I will take the second.” So the Muhajir lay down and slept, and the Ansari stood up and began to pray. Meanwhile, the polytheist arrived. When he saw the figure of a man from afar, he realized that this was the guard of the people. So he aimed from a distance and shot an arrow at him, which struck his body. The Ansari pulled it out and threw it away, and continued to pray steadfastly. The polytheist shot a second arrow, and it also struck his body. The Ansari pulled it out and threw it away, then went into bowing and prostration, and woke up his companion. He told him to sit, and he himself jumped up. When the polytheist saw both of them, he realized that the people had become aware of him, so he fled. Then the Muhajir, seeing the Ansari’s flowing blood, said in amazement, “Subhan Allah! Why didn’t you wake me up?” The Ansari replied, “I was reciting a surah, and I did not like to end my prayer without completing it. But when I saw that he had showered me with arrows, then I bowed and woke you up. By Allah, if I had not feared that the duty of keeping watch would be neglected, which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had assigned to me, my soul would have departed before I finished that surah.”
