It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the Battle of Ahzab, an arrow struck the vein in the arm of Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Mu’adh. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cauterized it with a broad-headed arrow using his blessed hand. It swelled, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cauterized it again. This happened three times, and his blood began to flow. Seeing this, he prayed, “O Allah, do not seize my soul until my eyes are cooled regarding Banu Qurayza.” Thus, his blood stopped, and not a single drop fell until the people of Banu Qurayza came down to accept the decision of Sayyiduna Sa’d. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for him, and he decided that their men should be killed and their women and children should be spared so that the Muslims could benefit from them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “You have judged concerning them with Allah’s judgment.” Their number was four hundred individuals. When the killing was completed, blood began to flow from his vein, and he passed away.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Hatib bin Abi Balta’ah wrote a letter to the people of Makkah, warning them that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to wage jihad against them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informed his companions about a woman who had that letter and sent his companions after her, who obtained the letter from her hair. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Hatib, did you do this?” He replied, “Yes, but I did not do this to deceive the Messenger of Allah. I am certain that Allah will make His Messenger victorious and fulfill His command. However, the matter is that I was a stranger among the Quraysh. My mother was there, and I wanted to do them a favor so that they would take care of my mother.” Sayyiduna Umar said, “Should I not strike off his neck?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do you want to kill a man from the people of Badr? Do you not know that Allah looked upon the people of Badr from the heavens and said: ‘Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you.’”

I went, and when I returned after completing the task, I greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam, but he did not reply. Allah knows best what passed through my heart. I thought perhaps the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was displeased with me because of my delay. I greeted him again, but still did not receive a reply, and I felt even more distressed than before. But the third time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied and said that nothing prevented me from replying except that I was performing prayer. At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on his mount and his face was not towards the qiblah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a woman along with his companions. She slaughtered a goat and prepared food for them. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by there on his return, she said, "O Messenger of Allah! We have prepared food for you, so please come inside and partake of the meal." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to her house with his companions. The companions had the habit of not extending their hands before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a morsel but could not swallow it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This goat has been slaughtered without the permission of its owner." The woman said, "O Messenger of Allah! We do not observe any formality with the family of Sa'd bin Mu'adh, nor do they with us. We take their things and they take ours."
