Hadith 14151
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وقَالَ : اسْمُ النَّجَاشِيِّ صَحْمَةُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain, however, in this one, the name of Najashi is also mentioned as As-hamah.
Hadith 14152
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا نَخْلًا لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ ، فَسَمِعَ أَصْوَاتَ رِجَالٍ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، يُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَزِعًا ، " فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يَتَعَوَّذُوا مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered a garden of Banu Najjar. There, he heard the voices of some people who had died during the time of ignorance and were being punished in their graves. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became anxious and left from there, and he instructed the companions to seek refuge from the punishment of the grave.
Hadith 14153
(حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) قَالَ : وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَيْضًا ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَيْضًا ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " وَجَنَازَةُ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ مَوْضُوعَةٌ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ اهْتَزَّ لَهَا عَرْشُ الرَّحْمَنِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the funeral of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was placed, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that even the Throne of the Most Merciful shook for him.
Hadith 14154
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ : أَسَمِعْتَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ .
Muhammad bin ‘Abbad asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) once, while he was performing Tawaf of the House of Allah, about this issue: “Have you heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding fasting on Friday?” He replied: “Yes, by the Lord of this House.”
Hadith 14155
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : " زَجَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تَصِلَ الْمَرْأَةُ بِرَأْسِهَا شَيْئًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) strictly forbade a woman from adding other hair to her own head.
Hadith 14156
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ النَّوَافِلَ فِي كُلِّ جِهَةٍ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ يَخْفِضُ السُّجُودَ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ وَيُومِئُ إِيمَاءً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing voluntary prayers on his mount in every direction; however, he would bow lower in prostration than in bowing, and he would gesture.
Hadith 14157
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشُّفْعَةَ فِي كُلِّ مَالٍ لَمْ يُقْسَمْ ، فَإِذَا وَقَعَتْ الْحُدُودُ ، وَصُرِّفَتْ الطُّرُقُ ، فَلَا شُفْعَةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established the right of pre-emption in every property that is divided. When boundaries are marked and the paths are separated, then the right of pre-emption no longer remains.
Hadith 14158
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ النَّبِيُّ أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ يَقُولُ : " أَنَا أَوْلَى بِكُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ ، فَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مَاتَ ، وَتَرَكَ دَيْنًا فَإِلَيَّ ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا ، فَهُوَ لِوَرَثَتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have more right over every Muslim than his own self. So, whoever dies in debt, his debt is my responsibility, and whoever leaves behind wealth and property, it is for his heirs.
Hadith 14159
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَال : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَجُلٍ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ ، فَأُتِيَ بِمَيِّتٍ ، فَسَأَلَ " هَلْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ دِينَارَانِ ، قَالَ : " صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ " ، فَقَالَ : أَبُو قَتَادَةَ هُمَا عَلَيَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ ، فَلَمَّا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَنَا أَوْلَى بِكُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ ، فَمَنْ تَرَكَ دَيْنًا فَعَلَيّ ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِوَرَثَتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the beginning, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not perform the funeral prayer for any debtor. Thus, a deceased person was brought, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Does he have any debt?" The people informed him that he owed two dinars. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "You perform the funeral prayer of your companion yourselves." Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! His debt is upon me." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed his funeral prayer. Then, when Allah opened the doors of conquest for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he announced, "I have more right over every Muslim than his own self. Therefore, whoever dies in debt, it is upon me, and whoever leaves wealth, it is for his heirs."
Hadith 14160
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْحِجْرِ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَسْأَلُوا الْآيَاتِ ، وَقَدْ سَأَلَهَا قَوْمُ صَالِحٍ فَكَانَتْ تَرِدُ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ ، وَتَصْدُرُ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ ، فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَعَقَرُوهَا ، وكَانَتْ تَشْرَبُ مَاءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ، وَيَشْرَبُونَ لَبَنَهَا يَوْمًا ، فَعَقَرُوهَا ، فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَيْحَةٌ أَهْمَدَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَنْ تَحْتَ أَدِيمِ السَّمَاءِ مِنْهُمْ ، إِلَّا رَجُلًا وَاحِدًا كَانَ فِي حَرَمِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " ، قِيلَ : مَن هُوَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " هُوَ أَبُو رِغَالٍ ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ ، أَصَابَهُ مَا أَصَابَ قَوْمَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the ruins of the people of Thamud and said: "Do not ask for miracles, because the people of Salih also demanded it (upon which Allah sent a she-camel according to their request). That she-camel would come from this path and leave from that path, but the people of Thamud disobeyed the command of their Lord and hamstrung her. Although that she-camel would drink the water of one day, and on the other day they would drink her milk. But when they hamstrung her, a heavenly cry seized them, and under the shadow of the sky not a single person remained alive except the man who was in the Sacred Sanctuary (Haram). Someone asked: 'O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who was he?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'He was Abu Righal. When he left the Haram, the same punishment befell him that had come upon his people.'"
Hadith 14161
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : أخبرنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : " خَرَصَهَا ابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ وَسْقٍ ، وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ الْيَهُودَ لَمَّا خَيَّرَهُمْ ابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ ، أَخَذُوا التَّمْرَ ، وَعَلَيْهِمْ عِشْرُونَ أَلْفَ وَسْقٍ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah had forty thousand wasq of dates harvested. According to his estimation, when he gave the Jews the choice, they took the fruit, and twenty thousand wasq became obligatory upon them.
Hadith 14162
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخبرنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا صَدَقَةَ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسِ أَوَاقٍ ، وَلَا فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسَةِ أَوْسُقٍ ، وَلَا فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسَةِ ذَوْدٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no zakat on less than five wasq, no zakat on silver less than five uqiyyah, and no zakat on camels less than five.
Hadith 14163
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : حدثنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءٌ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ ، فَبَدَأَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَزَلَ ، فَأَتَى النِّسَاءَ ، فَذَكَّرَهُنَّ وَهُوَ يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَى يَدِ بِلَالٍ ، وَبِلَالٌ بَاسِطٌ ثَوْبَهُ ، يُلْقِينَ فِيهِ النِّسَاءُ صَدَقَةً ، قَالَ : تُلْقِي الْمَرْأَةُ فَتْخَهَا ، وَيُلْقِينَ ، قَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ فَتْخَتَهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Eid al-Fitr, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and led the prayer before delivering the sermon. After the prayer, he addressed the people, and when he finished, he descended from the pulpit and went to the women and gave them advice and admonition. During this, he was leaning on the hand of Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) had spread out his cloth, and the women were putting their charity into it, until some women even put their earrings in it.
Hadith 14164
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِمَارًا قَدْ وُسِمَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once saw a donkey on whose face a mark had been branded. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May the curse of Allah be upon the one who did this.
Hadith 14165
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَوْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَا أَشُكُّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الضَّبُعِ ، فَقَالَ : " حَلَالٌ ، فَقُلْتُ : أعَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
Abdur Rahman says that I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the badger, and he declared it lawful. I asked him, "Is this not on the authority of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Yes!"
Hadith 14166
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيَّ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ ثَمَنِ الْهِرِّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade using the price of a cat.
Hadith 14167
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : أخبرنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، وَقَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A vow that involves disobedience to Allah should not be fulfilled.
Hadith 14168
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " ، وَلَمْ يَرْفَعَاهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a vow involving disobedience to Allah Almighty should not be fulfilled.
Hadith 14169
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ نُبَيْحٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، " أَنَّ قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ حُمِلُوا مِنْ مَكَانِهِمْ ، فَنَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ رُدُّوا الْقَتْلَى إِلَى مَضَاجِعِهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the martyrs of Uhud were being moved from their places, the caller of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) announced that the martyrs should be returned to their own places.

حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ نُبَيْحٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : انْطَلَقْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي دَيْنٍ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِي ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ كَأَنِّي شَرَارَةٌ ، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، قَالَ لِي عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ : اكْتُبْ عَنِّي وَلَوْ حَدِيثًا وَاحِدًا مِنْ غَيْرِ كِتَابٍ ، فَقُلْتُ : لَا وَلَا حَرْفًا ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ وَكِيعٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي وَذَكَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّزَّاقِ ، فَقَالَ : يُشْبِهُ رِجَالَ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ . حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : وَسَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : وَمَا كَانَ فِي قَرْيَةِ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ بِئْرٌ فَكُنَّا نَذْهَبُ نُبَكِّرُ عَلَى مِيلَيْنِ نَتَوَضَّأُ وَنَحْمِلُ مَعَنَا الْمَاءَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding my father's debt, and at that time I was like a flame of fire.
Hadith 14171
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ . ح وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ : الْإِسْكَافِ إِنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ سُلَيْكًا جَاءَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ ، فَجَلَسَ ، فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ : مُحَمَّدٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ ، فَقَالَ : إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ ، فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon when Sulaik came and sat down. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to pray two rak‘ahs, then turned to the people and said: When any one of you comes while the Imam is delivering the sermon, he should pray two short rak‘ahs.
Hadith 14172
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْعُمْرَى جَائِزَةٌ لِأَهْلِهَا ، أَوْ مِيرَاثٌ لِأَهْلِهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Umra is permissible for its people, or it is inheritance for its people.
Hadith 14173
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا حَدَّثَ ، أَنَّ ذَكْوَانَ أَبَا صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وأَبي هُريرة ، أنهم " نَهَوْا عن الصَّرْفِ " وَرَفَعَهُ رَجُلَانِ مِنْهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Saeed, Jabir (may Allah be pleased with them), and Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that they used to prohibit the sale of gold and silver on credit, and two of them attributed this prohibition to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
Hadith 14174
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " الْعُمْرَى جَائِزَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Umra is permissible for its people.
Hadith 14175
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " الْعُمْرَى جَائِزَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Umra is permissible for its people.
Hadith 14176
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ شُعْبَةَ يُحَدِّثُ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ ، قَال : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : تَزَوَّجْتُ ثَيِّبًا ، فَقَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا لَكَ وَلِلْعَذَارَى وَلِعَابِهَا ! " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I said: I have married a previously married woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Why did you not marry a virgin so that you could play with her?
Hadith 14177
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْحَرْبُ خَدْعَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "War is (nothing but) fighting."
Hadith 14178
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، وَرَوْحٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَمْشِ فِي نَعْلٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ، وَلَا تَحْتَبِيَنَّ فِي إِزَارٍ وَاحِدٍ ، وَلَا تَأْكُلْ بِشِمَالِكَ ، وَلَا تَشْتَمِلْ الصَّمَّاءَ ، وَلَا تَضَعْ إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْكَ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى إِذَا اسْتَلْقَيْتَ " ، قُلْتُ : لِأَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ : أَوَضْعُهُ رِجْلَهُ عَلَى الرُّكْبَةِ مُسْتَلْقِيًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : أَمَّا الصَّمَّاءُ فَهِيَ إِحْدَى اللِّبْسَتَيْنِ ، تَجْعَلُ دَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِكَ وَخَارِجَتَهُ عَلَى إِحْدَى عَاتِقَيْكَ ، قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، فَإِنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ : لَا يَحْتَبِي فِي إِزَارٍ وَاحِدٍ مُفْضِيًا ، قَالَ : كَذَلِكَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا ، يَقُولُ : لَا يَحْتَبِي فِي إِزَارٍ وَاحِدٍ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ عَمْرٌو لِي : مُفْضِيًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should walk wearing only one shoe, eat with his left hand, wrap his body in a single garment, walk with only one shoe, or when lying on his back, place one leg over the other.
Hadith 14179
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ مَطَرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، أَنَّ ذَكْوَانَ أَبَا صَالِح وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ خَيْرًا يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أبي سعيد ، وأبي هريرة ، أنهم " نَهَوْا عَنِ الصَّرْفِ " رَفَعَهُ رَجُلَانِ مِنْهُمْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Saeed, Jabir (may Allah be pleased with them), and Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that they used to prohibit the sale of gold and silver on credit, and two of them attributed this prohibition to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
Hadith 14180
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى بِهِمْ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ ، فَقَامَ صَفٌّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، وَصَفٌّ خَلْفَهُ ، فَصَلَّى بِالَّذِي خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ هَؤُلَاءِ حَتَّى قَامُوا فِي مَقَامِ أَصْحَابِهِمْ ، وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ حَتَّى قَامُوا مَقَامَ هَؤُلَاءِ ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلَهُمْ رَكْعَةً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the companions in the Salat al-Khawf (prayer of fear). One row stood facing the enemy and one row stood behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He led those behind him in one rak‘ah with one bowing and two prostrations. Then these people moved forward and stood in the place of their companions, and those people came here and stood in their place. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also led them in one rak‘ah with one bowing and two prostrations, and then he concluded the prayer with salam. In this way, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) completed two rak‘ahs, and each of those people (in following the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) performed one rak‘ah.
Hadith 14181
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : " لَوْ كُنَّا مِئَةَ أَلْفٍ لَكَفَانَا ، كُنَّا أَلْفًا وَخَمْسَ مِائَةٍ "
Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd says that I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the number of participants in the Bay'at al-Ridwan, so he replied: "Even if we had been one hundred thousand in number, that water would have sufficed us. Our number was only one and a half thousand."
Hadith 14182
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا نَضْرَةَ ، قَالَ : فَذُكِرَتُ ذَلِكَ لِجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : " عَلَى يَدَيَّ دَارَ الْحَدِيثُ ، تَمَتَّعْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Abu Nadrah says that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas permitted Mut'ah and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair forbade it. I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said: We practiced Mut'ah during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 14183
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . ح وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَالِمًا ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وُلِدَ لَهُ غُلَامٌ ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُسَمِّيَهُ مُحَمَّدًا ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " أَحْسَنَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ ، تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي ، وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a child was born to an Ansari. He wanted to name him Muhammad and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Ansar have done well by naming after my name, so name after my name, but do not take my kunyah (patronymic) as your kunyah.
Hadith 14184
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سَيَّارٍ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لَهُ : " إِذَا دَخَلْتَ لَيْلًا ، فَلَا تَدْخُلْ عَلَى أَهْلِكَ حَتَّى تَسْتَحِدَّ الْمُغِيبَةُ ، وَتَمْتَشِطَ الشَّعِثَةُ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) ، ، قَالَ ، وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا دَخَلْتَ ، فَعَلَيْكَ الْكَيْسَ وَالْكَيْسَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you enter the city at night, do not go to your house without informing, so that a woman whose husband was absent may remove hair from her body, and a disheveled woman may adorn herself. And he said: When you reach home, then intimacy is permitted at any time.
Hadith 14185
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : اسْتَأْذَنْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ ذَا ؟ " فَقُلْتُ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَا أَنَا ! " ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ : كَأَنَّهُ كَرِهَ قَوْلَهُ : أَنَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I knocked on the door of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and sought permission. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Who is it? I said: It is I. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is I, it is I?" as if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked it.
Hadith 14186
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . ح وَحَجَّاجٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا وَجِعٌ لَا أَعْقِلُ ، قَالَ : فَتَوَضَّأَ ، ثُمَّ صَبَّ عَلَيَّ ، أَوْ قَالَ : صَبُّوا عَلَيَّ فَعَقَلْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّهُ لَا يَرِثُنِي إِلَّا كَلَالَةٌ ، فَكَيْفَ الْمِيرَاثُ ؟ قَالَ : فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْفَرْضِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while I was so ill that I was unconscious. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and either poured that water over me or ordered it to be poured over me. I regained consciousness and said: Among my heirs, there is no one except "kalalah" (distant relatives); how will the inheritance be distributed? Upon this, the verse regarding the distribution of inheritance was revealed.
Hadith 14187
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا قُتِلَ أَبِي ، قَالَ : جَعَلْتُ أَكْشِفُ الثَّوْبَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَ الْقَوْمُ يَنْهَوْنِي ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَنْهَانِي ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَتْ عَمَّتِي فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ عَمْرٍو تَبْكِي ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " َتَبْكِينَ أَوْ لَا تَبْكِينَ مَا زَالَتْ الْمَلَائِكَة تُظِلُّهُ بِأَجْنِحَتِهِمْ حَتَّى رَفَعْتُمُوهُ " ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : " تُظَلِّلُهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when my father was martyred, I began to remove the cloth from his face. People stopped me, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not stop me. My paternal aunt Fatimah bint Amr began to weep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not wail and lament, for the angels continued to shade him with their wings until you lifted him."
Hadith 14188
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مِخْوَلٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُفْرِغُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثًا ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَظُنُّهُ فِي الْغُسْلِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ : إِنَّ شَعْرِي كَثِيرٌ ، فَقَالَ جَابِرٌ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْثَرَ شَعْرًا مِنْكَ وَأَطْيَبَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that how did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform ghusl? He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would pour water over his head three times. A man from Banu Hashim said, "My hair is very long." Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had more hair than you in terms of quantity, and in terms of fragrance, his hair was the best of all."
Hadith 14189
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ رَبٍّ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ : " لَا تُغَسِّلُوهُمْ ، فَإِنَّ كُلَّ جُرْحٍ أَوْ كُلَّ دَمٍ ، يَفُوحُ مِسْكًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the martyrs of Uhud: Do not bathe them, for on the Day of Resurrection, musk will be coming from their every wound and blood. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not offer their funeral prayer either.
Hadith 14190
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ ، سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ ، قَالَ : أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَمَعَهُ نَاضِحَانِ لَهُ ، وَقَدْ جَنَحَتْ الشَّمْسُ ، وَمُعَاذٌ يُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ ، فَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ الصَّلَاةَ ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ مُعَاذٌ الْبَقَرَةَ أَوْ النِّسَاءَ مُحَارِبٌ الَّذِي يَشُكُّ فَلَمَّا رَأَى الرَّجُلُ ذَلِكَ ، صَلَّى ثُمَّ خَرَجَ ، قَالَ : فَبَلَغَهُ أَنَّ مُعَاذًا نَالَ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : حَجَّاجٌ يَنَالُ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَفَتَّانٌ أَنْتَ يَا مُعَاذُ ، أَفَتَّانٌ أَنْتَ يَا مُعَاذُ أَوْ فَاتِنٌ فَاتِنٌ فَاتِنٌ ؟ ، وَقَالَ : حَجَّاجٌ أَفَاتِنٌ أَفَاتِنٌ أَفَاتِنٌ ؟ فَلَوْلَا قَرَأْتَ سَبِّحْ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى ، وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا فَصَلَّى وَرَاءَكَ الْكَبِيرُ ، وَذُو الْحَاجَةِ أَوِ الضَّعِيفُ " أَحْسِبُ مُحَارِبًا الَّذِي يَشُكُّ فِي الضَّعِيفِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once an Ansari came for prayer, and with him were his two water-carrying camels. The sun had set, and Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal was leading the Maghrib prayer. He (the Ansari) also joined the prayer. Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Mu'adh began reciting Surah Al-Baqarah or Surah An-Nisa. Seeing this, the man completed his own prayer and left. Later, he found out that Sayyiduna Mu'adh had said something about him. He went and mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him twice: "Mu'adh, do you want to put people to trial? Why do you not recite Surah Al-A'la and Surah Ash-Shams? For behind you are elderly, needy, and weak people."
