It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Madinah Munawwarah to fight the polytheists. My father, Abdullah, had told me, "Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), do not go out until you know what has happened to us. By Allah, if I had not left daughters behind, I would have wished that you attain martyrdom before me." So I stayed in my orchard, when suddenly my paternal aunt brought my father and my maternal uncle, carrying them on a camel. She entered Madinah Munawwarah to bury them in our graveyard. Suddenly, a man came announcing, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commands you to take your slain back and bury them where they were martyred." So we took both of them back and buried them at the place of martyrdom.
During the caliphate of Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah, a man came to me and said, "O Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), the governors of Sayyiduna Muawiyah have dug up your father's grave, and he is visible in his grave." I went there and found him in the same state as when I had buried him; there was no change in him except for a slight thing that naturally happens due to being killed. Then I completed his burial.
My father had also left a debt of dates upon himself. The creditors began to demand it from me strictly. Compelled, I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), my father was martyred at such-and-such an occasion and left a debt of dates upon me. The creditors have started to demand it from me strictly. I wish that you help me so that they may grant me a year's respite." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Alright, I will come to you at midday, inshaAllah." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came with a few companions and, after seeking permission, entered the house.
I had already told my wife that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come at midday, but do not let yourself be seen by me, do not cause any discomfort to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and do not make any request from him. Nevertheless, she spread a bed for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and placed a pillow, upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rested his head and slept.
I told one of my slaves, "Quickly slaughter this goat and finish before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wakes up. I will help you." So before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up, we finished with it. I told him, "When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wakes up, he will ask for water for ablution. As soon as he finishes ablution, immediately present the food before him." So it happened that when he woke up from sleep, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water, and before he could finish ablution, the food was placed before him.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at me and said, "Perhaps you have also noticed our fondness for meat." Call Abu Bakr." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called the other companions who had come with him. They came. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand in the food and said, "In the name of Allah, eat." All of them ate to their fill, yet much meat was left. By Allah, the people of Banu Salamah were sitting and watching the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); this scene was very beloved to them, but they did not come near only because they did not want to cause any discomfort to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
When those people finished eating, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions stood up. The companions walked ahead, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Leave my back for the angels." I also walked behind them. When they reached near the door, my wife, from behind a pillar, said, "O Messenger of Allah! Pray for me and my husband." May Allah send blessings upon you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "May Allah send His mercy upon you and your husband."
Then, mentioning my creditor by name, he said, "Bring him here." He was the same person who was demanding the debt very strictly. He came. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Give Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) a little respite until next year." He said, "I will not do so." He became even more obstinate and said, "This is the wealth of orphans." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Where is Jabir?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I am here." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Start measuring and giving (the dates). Allah will make it sufficient." I looked up at the sky, and the sun had declined. I said, "O Abu Bakr! The time for prayer has come." So they went to the mosque, and I said to the creditor, "Bring your container," and I measured out Ajwa dates for him. Allah made it sufficient, and even more was left over.
I ran to the mosque and presented myself to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). By that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished the prayer. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please see, I have measured out the dates for my creditor, and Allah made it sufficient, and even more was left over." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Where is Umar ibn Khattab?" He came running. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Ask Jabir about his creditor and the dates." He said, "I will not ask, because when you said that Allah will make it sufficient, I was sure that Allah would make it sufficient." This was repeated three times. The third time, he did not like to reject the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) words and asked, "Jabir! What happened with your creditor and the dates?" I told him that Allah had made it sufficient, and even more was left over.
Then I came home and said to my wife, "Did I not forbid you from speaking to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" She said, "Do you think that Allah brought the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to my house, and when he was about to leave, I would not request him to pray for me and my husband?"
Hadith 15282
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that people had gathered around a man and were shading him. (Upon inquiry, people informed that he was fasting.) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fasting while traveling is not an act of righteousness.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once said to Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah: "May Allah protect you from the rule of fools." He asked, "What is meant by the rule of fools?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It refers to those rulers who will come after me. Those who affirm their lies and assist them in their oppression will have no connection with me, nor will I have any connection with them, and these people will not be able to come to me at the Pond of Kawthar. But those who do not affirm their falsehoods and do not assist them in their oppression, they are from me and I am from them, and soon they will come to me at the Pond of Kawthar. O Ka'b bin Ujrah, fasting is a shield, charity wipes out sins, and prayer is a means of nearness to Allah. O Ka'b bin Ujrah, no one whose nourishment is from the unlawful will enter Paradise, and Hell is more deserving of him. O Ka'b bin Ujrah, people are divided into two groups: some purchase their souls and set them free, and some purchase their souls and destroy them."

I put it in my mouth and chewed it, but I felt a pit in it which caused me discomfort, so I spat it out. Then I picked up another date and put it in my mouth, and the same thing happened again. The third time, it happened again. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq said: Allow me to interpret this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You may interpret it. He said: By this is meant your army which you have sent; they will return safely with spoils of war. They will encounter a man who will plead with them by your beard, and they will let him go. This will happen three times. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The angel gave the same interpretation.
