It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became ill. We performed prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at that time, and he was leading the prayer while sitting. Sayyiduna Siddiq Akbar (Abu Bakr) was loudly saying the takbeer so that others could hear the takbeer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) glanced at us from the corner of his eye and saw that we were standing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured towards us, so we also began to pray sitting, and completed the rest of the prayer in this manner. After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It was just about that you would have started doing as the people of Persia and Rome do. They also stand before their kings while the kings remain seated. Do not do so; rather, follow your imams. If they pray standing, then you should also pray standing. If they pray sitting, then you should also pray sitting."

Now I do not remember whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also mentioned the name Rafi’ or not. And the reason he stated was that someone asks another, “Is Barakah (blessing) here?” and he replies, “No.” Someone asks, “Is Yasaar (ease) here?” and he replies, “No.” But before this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away. Then Sayyiduna Umar intended to strictly prohibit this, but then he abandoned it.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wore it at that time, but after coming home, he took it off. Then, upon learning of the arrival of a delegation, Sayyiduna Umar requested that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wear the cloak. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Silk clothing is not suitable for us in this world; it will be suitable for us in the Hereafter. However, Umar, you may take it." Sayyiduna Umar said, "You dislike it, and I should take it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I am not ordering you to wear it, but rather giving it to you so that you may send it to the land of Iran and obtain wealth through it." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself sent that cloak to the King of Abyssinia, Najashi, who had given refuge to the emigrant companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
