It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), whenever anyone saw a dream, he would relate it before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I wished that I too would see a dream and relate it before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). At that time, I was an unmarried youth and used to sleep in the Prophet’s Mosque. Eventually, one day I did see a dream, and it was that two angels came and took hold of me and began to lead me towards Hell. It was encircled like a well, and it seemed as if it had two horns. I saw some people in it whom I recognized. I kept saying, “I seek refuge in Allah from the Fire.” Meanwhile, another angel met those two angels and said to me, “Do not be afraid.” I mentioned this dream to my sister, Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), and she related it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Abdullah is a good man; if only he would pray at night.” Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that after this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would sleep very little at night.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw ‘Atarid selling silk garments. He went to the court of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I saw ‘Atarid selling silk garments. If you were to buy one of these garments, you could wear it before delegations and on the occasions of Eid and Jumu‘ah." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is worn by the one who has no share in the Hereafter." After some time, some silk garments arrived for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from somewhere. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave one of these garments to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), one to Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him), and sent one to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). And he said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "Tear it and distribute its scarves among the women." Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the court of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I heard you say what you said about silk, and then you sent this garment to me?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I did not send it to you so that you would wear it, but so that you could sell it." When Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) wore that garment and went out, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to look at him intently. When Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) saw that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was staring at him, he said, "O Messenger of Allah! You are the one who made me wear this garment." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tear it and distribute scarves among the women," or as the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever lets his lower garment hang below his ankles out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection. He (Ibn Umar) said: Once I was present in the court of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and my lower garment was hanging down. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Who is this? I replied: Abdullah bin Umar. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you are Abdullah, then raise your lower garment." So I raised it up to the middle of my shins. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and said: "Whoever drags his clothes on the ground out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sometimes one corner of my garment hangs down, although I try hard (to keep it up)? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are not among those who do this out of arrogance."

Hadith 6356
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should wrap himself in prayer like the Jews do, rather he should drape himself. The way to do this is that whoever has two garments should make one a lower garment and the other a sheet, and whoever does not have two garments but only one, should make it a lower garment and pray in it."

Hadith 6357
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Muslims came to Madinah Munawwarah, there was no call to prayer (adhan) at that time, rather people would gather at an estimated time. One day they discussed this matter, and some people said that a bell should be made to inform others, as the Christians do. Some said that a horn should be made like the Jews’ horn. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Why don’t you send a man to announce the prayer?” Upon hearing this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): “Bilal, get up and announce the prayer.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever misses the Asr prayer, it is as if his family and wealth have been destroyed." I asked Nafi', "Until the sun sets?" He replied, "Yes."

Hadith 6359
Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would sometimes be fasting and would send for the food for iftar to be brought to him. The food would be presented before him when the Maghrib adhan had already been called, the prayer would be established, and the call would still be ongoing in his ears, but he would not leave his food and would not hurry before finishing. Then he would go out and perform the prayer and would say that Allah’s Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When the evening meal is presented before you, do not turn away from it and hasten (to prayer).”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once, along with some of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), among whom was Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Ibn Sayyad. At that time, he was playing with children near the mounds of Banu Maghalah, and he himself was also a child. He did not know of the coming of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his hand on his back and said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" Ibn Sayyad looked up at the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I bear witness that you are the Messenger of the unlettered ones." Then Ibn Sayyad said to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I believe in Allah and His Messengers." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "What comes to you?" He said, "A truthful one and a liar come to me." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The matter has become confused for you." Then he said: "I have hidden something in my heart for you, tell me what it is?" (The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had hidden in his mind the Qur'anic verse: 'The Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke.') Ibn Sayyad said, "It is smoke." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be off! You cannot go beyond your status." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to strike his neck?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If he is the same Dajjal, you will not be given power over him, and if he is not that Dajjal, then what benefit is there in killing him?"
