Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, I asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), "What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do inside?" He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, leaving two pillars on his right, one pillar on his left, and three pillars behind him. At that time, there was a distance of three cubits between the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the wall of the Ka'bah. Salim says that in those days, the House of Allah was built upon six pillars.

Abdullah bin Badr says that he set out for Hajj with a group of his companions. Suddenly, a man of heavy stature, wrapped in a sheet and lower garment, was seen calling us from near the pool. We went to him. I asked people about him, and found out that he was Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). When we reached him, he asked, "Who are you people?" We said, "People of the East, then of Yamamah." He asked, "Have you come for Hajj or for Umrah?" We replied, "We have come with the intention of Hajj." He said, "You have completed your Hajj." I said, "I have performed Hajj many times before this, and every time I have done it in this way." Then we returned to our place, until Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) arrived. I mentioned the whole incident before Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and also mentioned the fatwa of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that you have completed your Hajj. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "I advise you in the name of Allah, tell me, did you set out with the intention of Hajj?" We replied, "Yes." He said, "By Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Abu Bakr, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) also performed Hajj, and all of them did it in the same way as you have done."

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "He spoke the truth, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared it forbidden." I asked, "What is meant by 'earthenware jar'?" He replied: "Anything that is made from baked clay."

I wanted to say that it is the date-palm tree, but then I was afraid of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Later, I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that it is the date-palm tree.
