Hadith 5923
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ صَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ كَمَثَلِ صَاحِبِ الْإِبِلِ الْمُعَقَّلَةِ ، فَإِنْ تَعَاهَدَهَا أَمْسَكَهَا ، وَإِنْ أَطْلَقَهَا ذَهَبَتْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the bearer of the Qur'an is like the owner of a tied camel; if he keeps it tied, it remains under his control, and if he lets it loose, it goes away."
Hadith 5924
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَبْتَاعُ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَيَبْعَثُ عَلَيْنَا مَنْ يَأْمُرُنَا بِنَقْلِهِ مِنَ الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي ابْتَعْنَاهُ فِيهِ إِلَى مَكَانٍ سِوَاهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ نَبِيعَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to buy and sell, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would send people to us who would instruct us to move the item from the place where we had bought it to another place before selling it.
Hadith 5925
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ ، وَقَالَ : " مَنْ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ ضَارِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever keeps a dog that is neither for guarding livestock nor a hunting dog, then two qirats will be deducted from his reward every day."
Hadith 5926
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا مَاتَ ، عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ مَقْعَدُهُ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ ، إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَمِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ , وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَمِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ , فَيُقَالُ : هَذَا مَقْعَدُكَ حَتَّى يَبْعَثَكَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For every person, when he dies, his abode is presented before him morning and evening. If he is among the people of Paradise, then the abode of the people of Paradise is shown to him, and if he is among the people of Hell, then the abode of the people of Hell is shown to him, and it is said: 'This is your place until you are resurrected.'"
Hadith 5927
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ , قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَر , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ ، وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، وَبِلَالٌ ، فَأَغْلَقَهَا ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ سَأَلْتُ بِلَالًا , مَاذَا صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " تَرَكَ عَمُودَيْنِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَعَمُودًا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، وَثَلَاثَةَ أَعْمِدَةٍ خَلْفَهُ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَبَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَذْرُعٍ " ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : وَكَانَ الْبَيْتُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى سِتَّةِ أَعْمِدَةٍ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ الَّذِي بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah), and at that time Usama bin Zaid, Uthman bin Talhah, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with them) were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) closed the door. Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, I asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), "What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do inside?" He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, leaving two pillars on his right, one pillar on his left, and three pillars behind him. At that time, there was a distance of three cubits between the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the wall of the Ka'bah. Salim says that in those days, the House of Allah was built upon six pillars.
Hadith 5927M
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : " مَنْ حَمَلَ عَلَيْنَا السِّلَاحَ فَلَيسَ مِنَّا " .
(Marfu' hadith) 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Malik, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever carries a weapon against us is not one of us."
Hadith 5928
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانُوا يَتَوَضَّئونَ جَمِيعًا " ، قُلْتُ لِمَالِكٍ : الرِّجَالُ وَالنِّسَاءُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قُلْتُ : زَمَنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), all the people used to perform ablution together from the same vessel. I asked Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him), "Men and women, all together?" He replied, "Yes!" I asked, "In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Yes."
Hadith 5929
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَشْتَرِيَ جَارِيَةً تُعْتِقُهَا ، قَالَ : أَهْلُهَا نَبِيعُكِ عَلَى أَنَّ وَلَاءَهَا لَنَا ، فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا يَمْنَعْكِ ذَلِكَ ، فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ " .

Hadith 5930
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا حَقُّ امْرِئٍ لَهُ شَيْءٌ يُوصِي فِيهِ يَبِيتُ لَيْلَتَيْنِ إِلَّا وَوَصِيَّتُهُ مَكْتُوبَةٌ عِنْدَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a person owes someone a right, then two nights should not pass over him in such a way that his will is not written and kept with him."
Hadith 5931
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْن عِيسَى ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " لَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمِ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ ، إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونُوا بَاكِينَ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا بَاكِينَ ، فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ ، أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمْ مِثْلُ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Enter the lands of the punished nations weeping; if you are not able to weep, then do not go there, for I fear that the same punishment may befall you as befell them."
Hadith 5932
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَحَرَّوْا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِي السَّبْعِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seek the Night of Qadr in the last seven nights of Ramadan."
Hadith 5933
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ ، قَالَ لِأَخِيهِ : يَا كَافِرُ ، فَقَدْ بَاءَ بِهَا أَحَدُهُمَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you calls his brother 'O disbeliever!', then surely one of them returns as a disbeliever."
Hadith 5934
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا النَّاسُ بِقُبَاءَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ ، إِذْ أَتَاهُمْ آتٍ ، فَقَالَ : إِنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ قُرْآنٌ اللَّيْلَةَ ، وَقَدْ أُمِرَ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْكَعْبَةَ " ، فَاسْتَقْبِلُوهَا ، وَكَانَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِلَى الشَّامِ ، فَاسْتَدَارُوا إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the people were performing the morning prayer in the mosque of Quba, when a man came and said that last night the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in which he was commanded to face the Ka'bah during prayer. Upon hearing this, those people turned their faces towards the Ka'bah during the prayer itself.
Hadith 5935
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ قَطَنِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ , أَوْ وَهْبِ بْنِ قَطَنٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ , شَكَّ إِسْحَاقُ , عَنْ يُحَنَّسَ مَوْلَى الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، إِذْ أَتَتْهُ مَوْلَاةٌ لَهُ ، فَذَكَرَتْ شِدَّةَ الْحَالِ ، وَأَنَّهَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَخْرُجَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : اجْلِسِي ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَا يَصْبِرُ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى لَأْوَائِهَا وَشِدَّتِهَا إِلَّا كُنْتُ لَهُ شَفِيعًا أَوْ شَهِيدًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
The freed slave of Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), "Yuhannas," says: Once I was sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) when one of his slave girls came and began to mention the severity of her circumstances and asked his permission to leave Madinah and go somewhere else. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said to her: Sit down. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever among you patiently endures the hardships and difficulties of Madinah, I will intercede for him on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 5936
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ مالِكًا , عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُوتِرُ وَهُوَ رَاكِبٌ ، فَقَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوْتَرَ وَهُوَ رَاكِبٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Witr while riding.
Hadith 5937
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ , فَقَالَ : " مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the night prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two by two rak‘ahs, and when you fear that morning is near, then add one rak‘ah to those two."
Hadith 5938
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ قَالُوا : السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ " ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَقُلْ : وَعَلَيْكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a Jew greets you with Salam, he says «السام عليكم», so in reply to him, you should only say «وعليك»."
Hadith 5939
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُلَازِمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَدْرٍ , أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ حُجَّاجًا ، حَتَّى وَرَدُوا مَكَّةَ ، فَدَخَلُوا الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَاسْتَلَمُوا الْحَجَرَ ، ثُمَّ طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ أُسْبُوعًا ، ثُمَّ صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ ضَخْمٌ فِي إِزَارٍ وَرِدَاءٍ يُصَوِّتُ بِنَا عِنْدَ الْحَوْضِ ، فَقُمْنَا إِلَيْهِ ، وَسَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالُوا : ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَلَمَّا أَتَيْنَاهُ ، قَالَ : مَنْ أَنْتُمْ ؟ قُلْنَا : أَهْلُ الْمَشْرِقِ ، وَثَمَّ أَهْلُ الْيَمَامَةِ ، قَالَ : فَحُجَّاجٌ أَمْ عُمَّارٌ ؟ قُلْتُ : بَلْ حُجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّكُمْ قَدْ نَقَضْتُمْ حَجَّكُمْ ، قُلْتُ : قَدْ حَجَجْتُ مِرَارًا ، فَكُنْتُ أَفْعَلُ كَذَا ، قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقْنَا مَكَانَنَا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، إِنَّا قَدِمْنَا ، فَقَصَصْنَا عَلَيْهِ قِصَّتَنَا ، وَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ مَا قَالَ : إِنَّكُمْ نَقَضْتُمْ حَجَّكُمْ ، قَالَ : أُذَكِّرُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ ، أَخَرَجْتُمْ حُجَّاجًا ؟ قُلْنَا : نَعَمْ ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ حَجَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ , وَعُمَرُ ، كُلُّهُمْ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ .
Abdullah bin Badr says that he set out for Hajj with a group of his companions. Upon reaching Makkah Mukarramah, they entered the Sacred Mosque, touched the Black Stone, then performed Tawaf around the House of Allah, and prayed two rak'ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim. Suddenly, a man of heavy stature, wrapped in a sheet and lower garment, was seen calling us from near the pool. We went to him. I asked people about him, and found out that he was Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). When we reached him, he asked, "Who are you people?" We said, "People of the East, then of Yamamah." He asked, "Have you come for Hajj or for Umrah?" We replied, "We have come with the intention of Hajj." He said, "You have completed your Hajj." I said, "I have performed Hajj many times before this, and every time I have done it in this way." Then we returned to our place, until Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) arrived. I mentioned the whole incident before Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and also mentioned the fatwa of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that you have completed your Hajj. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "I advise you in the name of Allah, tell me, did you set out with the intention of Hajj?" We replied, "Yes." He said, "By Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Abu Bakr, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) also performed Hajj, and all of them did it in the same way as you have done."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ ! فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قَالَ : أَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ ، قَالَ : انْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا ، يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ ، وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ! ! وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " هُمَا رَيْحَانَتِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا " .
(Marfu‘ hadith) Suraij narrated to us, Mahdi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Ya‘qub, from Ibn Abi Nu‘m, who said: I was sitting with Ibn ‘Umar, when a man came to him asking about the blood of mosquitoes! So Ibn ‘Umar said to him: "Where are you from?" He said: "I am from the people of Iraq." He said: "Look at this one, he asks me about the blood of mosquitoes, while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! And I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'They are my two sweet basils from this world.'"
Hadith 5941
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ " رَأَى مَذْهَبًا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُوَاجَهَةَ الْقِبْلَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walking facing the Qiblah.
Hadith 5942
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " صَدَقَةُ الْفِطْرِ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ ، صَغِيرٍ أَوْ كَبِيرٍ ، حُرٍّ أَوْ عَبْدٍ ، ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى ، صَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ ، أَوْ صَاعٌ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Zakat al-Fitr of one sa’ of dates or one sa’ of barley is obligatory upon every Muslim, male and female, free and slave, young and old."
Hadith 5943
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّهُ كَانَ " يَرْمُلُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَشْوَاطٍ مِنَ الْحَجَرِ ، إِلَى الْحَجَرِ ، وَيَمْشِي أَرْبَعَةً " ، وَيُخْبِرُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ .
Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to perform ramal (brisk walking) in the first three circuits of tawaf from the Black Stone to the Black Stone, and in the remaining four circuits he would walk at a normal pace, and he used to state that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did likewise.
Hadith 5944
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ " يَرْمِي الْجَمْرَةَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ رَاكِبًا ، وَسَائِرَ ذَلِكَ مَاشِيًا " ، وَيُخْبِرُهُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to stone the Jamrah Aqabah on the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah while riding, and on the remaining days he would do so on foot, and he used to state that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did likewise.
Hadith 5945
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ , أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ , كَانَ " لَا يَسْتَلِمُ شَيْئًا مِنَ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا الرُّكْنَيْنِ الْيَمَانِيَيْنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَسْتَلِمُهُمَا " وَيُخْبِرُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ .
Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would not touch any corner except the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner; he would only touch these two corners and would state that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same.
Hadith 5946
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُجَّاجًا ، فَمَا أَحْلَلْنَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى أَحْلَلْنَا يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that we set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the intention of Hajj, and before the Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Nahr), we did not make anything lawful for ourselves.
Hadith 5947
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ بِمَالِي بِثَمْغٍ ، قَالَ : " احْبِسْ أَصْلَهُ ، وَسَبِّلْ ثَمَرَتَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! I wish to give my property at a place called Thamgh in charity." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep its original (property) with yourself and give its profits in charity."
Hadith 5948
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " مَا صُمْتُ عَرَفَةَ قَطُّ , وَلَا صَامَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَلَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , وَلَا عُمَرُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I have never observed the fast on the Day of Arafah, nor did any of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Abu Bakr, or Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) observe the fast on that day.
Hadith 5949
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَلَسْتُ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ يُحَدِّثُهُ ، فَدَخَلْتُ مَعَهُمَا ، فَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ صَدْرِي ، وَقَالَ : أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا تَنَاجَى اثْنَانِ فَلَا تَجْلِسْ إِلَيْهِمَا حَتَّى تَسْتَأْذِنَهُمَا " .
Saeed Maqbari (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was talking to a person, and I went and sat between them. He struck his hand on my chest and said: "Do you not know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When two people are talking secretly, do not sit with them without their permission.'"
Hadith 5950
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ " يُصَفِّرُ لِحْيَتَهُ ، وَيَلْبَسُ النِّعَالَ السِّبْتِيَّةَ ، وَيَسْتَلِمُ الرُّكْنَيْنِ ، وَيُلَبِّي إِذَا اسْتَوَتْ بِهِ رَاحِلَتُهُ " ، وَيُخْبِرُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ .
Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to dye his beard, wear shoes made of dyed leather, touch the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner, and would recite the Talbiyah when his mount became upright, and he used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also used to do the same.
Hadith 5951
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بِحُلَّةٍ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ أَوْ سِيَرَاءَ ، أَوْ نَحْوِ هَذَا ، فَرَآهَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَمْ أُرْسِلْ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَلْبَسَهَا ، إِنَّمَا هِيَ ثِيَابُ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ ، إِنَّمَا بَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَسْتَنْفِعَ بِهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a silk garment to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Then, when he saw it on Sayyiduna Umar’s body, he said: I did not send it to you for wearing, because in this world it is the clothing of those who have no share in the Hereafter. I sent it to you so that you may sell it and benefit from it.
Hadith 5952
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بِحُلَّةٍ ، فَذَكَرَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 5953
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سِنَانُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنْ كُلَيْبِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِتْنَةً ، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : " يُقْتَلُ فِيهَا هَذَا الْمُقَنَّعُ يَوْمَئِذٍ مَظْلُوماً " ، قَالَ : فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا هُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was mentioning tribulations, when a man passed by in front. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him and said: "At that time, this veiled man will be martyred in a state of being oppressed." I went and saw that it was Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 5954
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ ، فَقَالَ : " حَرَّمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ ، فَقَالَ : حَرَّمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : صَدَقَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : مَا الْجَرُّ ؟ قَالَ : كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مِنْ مَدَرٍ .
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once he heard Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared nabidh (fermented drink) made in earthenware jars to be forbidden. I went to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said to him, "Are you not surprised at Abu Abdur Rahman? He thinks that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared nabidh made in earthenware jars to be forbidden." Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "He spoke the truth, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared it forbidden." I asked, "What is meant by 'earthenware jar'?" He replied: "Anything that is made from baked clay."
Hadith 5955
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ كُهَيْلٍ يَذْكُرُ , عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ شَجَرَةً يُنْتَفَعُ بِهَا ، مِثْلَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، هِيَ الَّتِي لَا يُنْفَضُ وَرَقُهَا " ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَقُولَ هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ ، فَفَرِقْتُ مِنْ عُمَرَ ، ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ بَعْدُ يَقُولُ : " هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I know of a tree from which benefit is derived, and it is like a Muslim, and its leaves do not fall." I wanted to say that it is the date-palm tree, but then I was afraid of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Later, I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that it is the date-palm tree.
Hadith 5956
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ ، وَحُسَيْنٌ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أُرَاهُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " مَنْ مَثَّلَ بِذِي الرُّوحِ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُبْ مَثَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، قَالَ حُسَيْنٌ : مَنْ مَثَّلَ بِذِي رُوحٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever mutilates a living being and does not repent, on the Day of Resurrection Allah Almighty will do the same to him."
Hadith 5957
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ " فَقَرَأَ السَّجْدَةَ فِي الْمَكْتُوبَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that three times it happened that I prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he recited a verse of prostration in the obligatory prayer.
Hadith 5958
(حديث مرفوع) قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ بْنِ أَحْمَّد : وَجَدْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي بِخَطِّ يَدِهِ , حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ , عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَهَا رَجُلٌ وَهُوَ خَارِجٌ مِنْ مَكَّةَ ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْتَمِرَ أَوْ يَحُجَّ ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَتَزَوَّجْهَا وَأَنْتَ مُحْرِمٌ ، " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْهُ " .
Ikrimah bin Khalid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about this issue: If a man wants to marry a woman outside Makkah Mukarramah and he also intends to perform Hajj or Umrah, what is the ruling? He replied: Do not marry in the state of Ihram; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has prohibited this.
Hadith 5959
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِامْرَأَةٍ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ مَقْتُولَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ تُقَاتِلُ ! " ثُمَّ نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ النِّسَاءِ وَالصِّبْيَانِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a slain woman on the day of the conquest of Makkah and said, "She was not one who fought." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the killing of women and children.
Hadith 5960
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ، المعنى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا طَاوُسًا , يَقُولُ : جَاءَ وَاللَّهِ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ ؟ " فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَزَادَهُمْ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الدُّبَّاءَ ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ : قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ وَالدُّبَّاءِ .
Tawoos says, By Allah! A man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said, "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid nabidh (fermented drink) in pitchers?" He replied, "Yes."
Hadith 5961
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنِ وَثَّابٍ , عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ عَلَى هَذَا الْمِنْبَرِ : " مَنْ أَتَى الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying on this pulpit: Whoever comes for Jumu'ah should come after performing ghusl (ritual bath).
