The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to perform ramal. The polytheists were sitting at the corner of the Black Stone watching the Muslims. When the Muslims began to perform ramal and walk between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, the polytheists began to say among themselves, “These are the same people about whom you thought that the fever of Yathrib had made them weak; they seem even stronger than so-and-so.” Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that it was to further strengthen this regret in the hearts of the polytheists that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered ramal in the entire circuit.
