It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met Ma'iz bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "What is the reality of the matter that has reached me about you?" He asked: "What has reached you about me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It has reached me that you have committed a sin with the slave woman of such-and-such family?" He confirmed it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him back, until he confessed about himself four times. Only then did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) order him to be stoned.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that (the husband of a woman was not present with her, she came to a man to buy something, he said to her, "Come into the warehouse, I will give you that thing." When the woman entered the warehouse, he kissed her and flirted with her. The woman said, "Alas! Even my husband is absent." Upon this, he let her go and regretted his action. Then he) presented himself before Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) and narrated the whole incident. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Alas! Perhaps her husband is not present because he is out in the path of Allah for jihad?" He replied in the affirmative. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "For the solution to this issue, go to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and ask him." So he presented himself before Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked about this issue. He also said the same, "Perhaps her husband is not present because he is out in the path of Allah for jihad." Then, like Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he sent him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). That man presented himself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and narrated the whole incident. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said, "Perhaps the woman's husband is not present?" And regarding this, the following verse of the Noble Qur'an was revealed: «﴿وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ . . .﴾ [هود : 114]» "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at some hours of the night. Indeed, good deeds erase bad deeds..." That man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Is this command of the Noble Qur'an specifically for me or is it a general command for all people?" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) struck his chest and said, "Do not be so happy, this is a general command for all people." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Umar has spoken the truth."
Hadith 2207
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us, at that time Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We presented to them this ordinary water to drink. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have done well, and do likewise in the future."
Hadith 2208
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is healing in three things: drinking honey, cupping, and cauterizing with fire, but I forbid my Ummah from cauterizing."
Hadith 2209
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the polytheists used to part their hair, while the People of the Book would leave them as they were, and the blessed habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was that in matters where no command had come, he preferred to follow and agree with the People of the Book rather than the polytheists. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also not part his hair, but later he (peace and blessings be upon him) started parting his hair.

Abu al-Tufail says that I saw Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah. On his left side was Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), and I was behind both of them, listening to their conversation. When Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to touch the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad), Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not touch these two corners (which are about to come). Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "Ibn Abbas! Leave me, for no part of the House of Allah is to be neglected or abandoned." However, whenever Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) touched any corner, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) kept saying the same thing to him.
Hadith 2211
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah only four times: once from Hudaybiyyah, once in the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah the following year as 'Umrat al-Qada', once from Ji'ranah, and the fourth time during his Hajj.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Allah Almighty revealed these verses: «﴿وَمَنْ لَمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ . . . فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ . . . فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ﴾ [المائدة : 44-47]» “Those who do not judge by what Allah has revealed, they are disbelievers... they are wrongdoers... they are defiantly disobedient.” These were revealed concerning two groups of Jews. In the time of ignorance, one group had prevailed over the other, and they had agreed to a settlement with mutual consent that if a man from the dominant tribe killed someone from the subdued tribe, the blood money would be fifty wasqs, and if a man from the subdued tribe killed someone from the dominant tribe, the blood money would be one hundred wasqs. They remained upon this agreement until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah. After the arrival of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), both groups became subdued, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not wage war against them nor trample their lands; rather, he made a peace treaty with them. During this period, a man from the subdued tribe killed a man from the dominant tribe. The dominant tribe sent word to the subdued tribe, saying, “Send us one hundred wasqs as blood money.” The subdued tribe replied, “Can it ever be that among tribes whose religion is one, whose lineage is one, and whose city is one, the blood money for some is full and for others is half? Previously, we used to give you this amount out of fear and dread of you, but now that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has come, we cannot give you this blood money under any circumstances.” War was about to break out between the two groups when both agreed to appoint the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as judge. Then the dominant tribe remembered and said, “By Allah! Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) will not grant you double the blood money, and what they are saying is correct, that they used to give us double the blood money out of fear, dread, and our dominance. Therefore, secretly send someone to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) who can inform you of his opinion. If he grants you the blood money you desire, then appoint him as your judge, and if not, then avoid him and do not appoint him as your arbitrator.” So they secretly sent some people from among the hypocrites to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to find out his opinion and report back. When they reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah Almighty informed His Messenger of all their details and intentions, and He revealed these verses: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ لَا يَحْزُنْكَ الَّذِينَ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْكُفْرِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا آمَنَّا . . . . . وَمَنْ لَمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ﴾ [المائدة : 41-47]» “O Messenger! Let not those grieve you who hasten into disbelief, from among those who say, ‘We believe’... and those who do not judge by what Allah has revealed, they are defiantly disobedient.” Then Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, “By Allah! This verse was revealed concerning these two groups, and Allah meant these two groups in this verse.”

Whoever narrates a false dream will also be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be ordered to tie two grains of barley together, but he will not be able to do so. Hakam bin A'raj says that once I went to the service of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) at the House of Siqayah. He was sitting, leaning on his cloak. I asked him to tell me something about the Day of Ashura. He said: In what regard are you asking about it? I said: Regarding fasting, that is, on which day should I fast? He said: When you see the crescent of Muharram, keep counting its days. When the morning of the ninth day comes, then fast. I asked: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fast in this way? He said: Yes.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that among the prisoners of Badr, there were some people who had nothing with which to pay ransom. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fixed their ransom in such a way that they should teach writing to the children of the Ansar. One day, a child came to his father crying. The father asked, "What happened?" He said, "The teacher hit me." He said, "Wicked one! You want to take revenge for Badr. From now on, you will never go to him again."
Hadith 2217
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered regarding the martyrs: "Remove the iron weapons and leather (armor) from them," and said: "Bury them with their blood in the same clothes."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that an Ansari man became an apostate and joined the polytheists. Upon this, the following verse was revealed: «﴿كَيْفَ يَهْدِي اللّٰهُ قَوْمًا كَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِيمَانِهِمْ . . . . .﴾ [آل عمران : 86]» "How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief . . . . ." His people conveyed this verse to him, and he repented and returned. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) accepted his repentance and let him go his way.
Hadith 2219
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wear white clothes, for they are the best of your clothes, and shroud your dead in them. And the best kohl among you is antimony (ithmid), for it sharpens the eyesight and grows the eyelashes."
Hadith 2220
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that while performing Tawaf of the House of Allah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Ramal in three circuits; he would walk at his normal pace up to the Yemeni Corner, and when he reached the Black Stone, he would begin Ramal, and he performed four circuits at a normal pace, and this is Sunnah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in Masjid al-Haram facing the Black Stone, when suddenly he looked up towards the sky and smiled and said: “May Allah curse the Jews, for fat was made unlawful for them, but they melted it and made oil from it and began to sell it. Indeed, when Allah makes something unlawful for a people to eat, He also makes its price unlawful for them.”

Hasan Urfi says that once in the presence of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), the topic arose that if a dog, a donkey, or a woman passes in front of someone praying, the prayer is broken. He said, "You have not done well by equating a Muslim woman with a dog and a donkey. I remember a time when I myself came riding on a donkey, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was leading the people in prayer. When I came close to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from the front, I got down from it and left it, and joined the prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither repeated his prayer nor forbade me for what I had done. Similarly, once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was leading the people in prayer, a little girl came and slipped into the rows and clung to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither repeated his prayer nor forbade the girl. Also, once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying in the mosque when a kid (young goat) came out from one of the rooms of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and started to pass in front of him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped it. Now, why do you not say that the prayer is broken if a kid passes in front of someone praying?"
Hadith 2223
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that whoever comes for Hajj, performs Tawaf of the House of Allah, and Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, then his Hajj is complete and his Umrah is complete. This is the way of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
Hadith 2224
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once gave a verdict based on one witness and an oath from the claimant.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Abu Jahl said: If I see Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) praying near the Ka'bah, I will go to him and crush his neck. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If he had advanced to do so, the angels would have seized him before the eyes of all. If the Jews had wished for death, they would have died and their abode in Hell would have been shown to them. And if those people who came to challenge the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to a mutual curse (mubahala) had gone out, they would have returned to their homes in such a state that they would have found none of their wealth or family remaining."

Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the well, at that time his cousins were drawing water from it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give me water to drink." So a bucket of water was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which he drank and then said: "If people would not consider this also as a ritual of Hajj and would not overpower you, I would have drawn water with you, bucket by bucket." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went and performed Sa'i between Safa and Marwah.

The polytheists began to offer wealth and riches in order to retrieve his corpse, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hand over his corpse to them as it is; it is a filthy corpse and its blood money is also impure." Yazid bin Hurmaz says: Once Najdah bin Amir wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and asked him some questions. When Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was reading his letter and writing a reply, I was present there. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: By Allah! If I did not have to save him from the evil in which he could become involved, I would never please him by replying to him. In his reply, he wrote: You have asked me about the share of those of near kin (dhawi al-qurba) whom Allah has mentioned—who are they? Our opinion was that the close relatives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are meant by this, but our people refused to accept this. You have asked about the orphan—when is the term 'orphan' removed from him? Remember! When he reaches the age of marriage and his understanding becomes apparent, then his wealth should be given to him, for now his orphanhood has ended. You have also asked whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ever killed any child of the polytheists? Remember! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not kill any of their children, and you should not kill anyone either. Yes, if you come to know about a child in the same way as Hazrat Khidr (peace be upon him) came to know about the child whom he killed, then that is a different matter (and this is not possible for you). You have also asked whether, if a woman and a slave participate in battle, do they have a fixed share in the spoils of war? They do not have a fixed share, but they should be given something from the spoils of war.
