Sayyiduna Suhayl bin Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, and Suhayl (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) on his camel. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Suhayl bin Bayda'!" and raised his voice. Suhayl (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Labbayk (here I am), and raised his voice. He (peace and blessings be upon him) did this two or three times. Suhayl (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The people realised that he (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to say something that he wished them to hear, so those who were behind us caught up with us, and those who were ahead of us stopped, until they had all gathered. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever bears witness that there is no true god except Allah, Allah makes Paradise obligatory for him and makes him forbidden to the Fire."

Sayyiduna Suhayl bin Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Banu Abd al-Dar, narrated: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Suhayl bin Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind him (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Suhayl bin Bayda'!" and raised his voice two or three times, and each time Suhayl (may Allah be pleased with him) answered him. When the people heard the voice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they understood that he wanted to address them, so those who were ahead sat down and those who were behind caught up, until they had all gathered. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever bears witness that there is no true god except Allah, Allah makes him forbidden to the Fire and makes Paradise obligatory for him."
