حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، ثنا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قُدَامَةَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ الْجُمَحِيِّ، قَالَ: حَضَرْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ يُوسُفَ يَضْرِبُ عَبَّاسَ بْنَ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيَّ فِي أَمْرِ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، فَطَلَعَ أَبُوهُ سَهْلٌ فِي إِزَارٍ وَرِدَاءٍ لَهُ، فَصَاحَ بِالْحَجَّاجِ، أَلَا تَحْفَظُ فِينَا وَصِيَّةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَ: وَمَا أَوْصَى بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيكُمْ؟ قَالَ: «أَوْصَى أَنْ يُحْسَنَ إِلَى مُحْسِنِ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَيُعْفَى عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ» ، فَأَرْسَلَهُ
سُهَيْلُ بْنُ بَيْضَاءَ الْقُرَشِيُّ ثُمَّ الْفِهْرِيُّ " بَدْرِيٌّ تُوُفِّيَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، نِسْبَتُهُ وَهُوَ سُهَيْلُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَهْيَبَ بْنِ ضَبَّةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ، وَبَيْضَاءُ أُمُّهُ، وَاسْمُهَا: دَعْدُ بِنْتُ أَسَدِ بْنِ جَحْذَمِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ «
سُهَيْلُ بْنُ بَيْضَاءَ الْقُرَشِيُّ ثُمَّ الْفِهْرِيُّ " بَدْرِيٌّ تُوُفِّيَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، نِسْبَتُهُ وَهُوَ سُهَيْلُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَهْيَبَ بْنِ ضَبَّةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ، وَبَيْضَاءُ أُمُّهُ، وَاسْمُهَا: دَعْدُ بِنْتُ أَسَدِ بْنِ جَحْذَمِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ «
Qudamah bin Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Hatib al-Jumahi (may Allah have mercy on him) relates: I was present when al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf was beating Abbas bin Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi over the affair of Ibn al-Zubayr. Then his father Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) appeared, wearing a lower garment and a cloak, and called out to al-Hajjaj: "Do you not observe the instruction of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning us?" He asked: "What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instruct concerning you?" He said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed that kindness be shown to the good-doers of the Ansar and that their wrongdoers be pardoned." So he let him go.
Suhayl bin Bayda' al-Qurashi, then al-Fihri: he was a Companion who fought at Badr. He died in Madinah during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led his funeral prayer in the mosque. His lineage is: Suhayl bin Wahb bin Rabi'ah bin Hilal bin Uhayb bin Dabbah bin al-Harith bin Fihr. Bayda' was the name of his mother, whose real name was Da'd bint Asad bin Jahdham bin Umayyah bin al-Harith bin Fihr.
