Suhayl bin Bayda al-Qurashi, then al-Fihri (may Allah be pleased with him), a veteran of Badr; he died in Madinah in the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led his funeral prayer in the mosque; his lineage: Suhayl bin Wahb bin Rabiah bin Hilal bin Uhayb bin Dabbah bin al-Harith bin Fihr, and Bayda was his mother, whose name was Dad bint Asad bin (the text is incomplete here)

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ ابْنِ بَيْضَاءَ، مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسُهَيْلُ ابْنُ بَيْضَاءَ رِدْفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا سُهَيْلُ ابْنُ بَيْضَاءَ» وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُجِيبُهُ سُهَيْلٌ، فَيَسْمَعَ النَّاسُ صَوْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَرَفُوا أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُهُمْ، فَجَلَسَ مَنْ كَانَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَحِقَهُ مَنْ كَانَ خَلْفَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا اجْتَمَعُوا، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ النَّارَ وَأَوْجَبَ لَهُ الْجَنَّةَ»
Sayyiduna Suhayl bin Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Banu Abd al-Dar, narrated: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Suhayl bin Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind him (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Suhayl bin Bayda'!" and raised his voice two or three times, and each time Suhayl (may Allah be pleased with him) answered him. When the people heard the voice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they understood that he wanted to address them, so those who were ahead sat down and those who were behind caught up, until they had all gathered. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever bears witness that there is no true god except Allah, Allah makes him forbidden to the Fire and makes Paradise obligatory for him."
