Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I went to Yemen and bought a fine suit of clothes of Dhu Yazan there, and presented it as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the period of truce between him (peace and blessings be upon him) and Quraysh. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not accept the gift of a polytheist," and returned it. So I sold it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) himself bought it and wore it, then went out to his Companions while it was on him. I have never seen anything look as beautiful on anything as that suit looked on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I could not stop myself from saying:
"What are the judges waiting for, after a radiant, distinguished face has appeared?
When they vie with him in glory, he will prevail over them like clear water flowing from a spring."
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this and turned towards me smiling, then went inside and clothed Usamah bin Zayd with that suit.
