Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Some people from the desert came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing striped woollen cloaks, and they asked him (for help). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urged the people to give charity, but they were slow in it, until the effect of that could be seen on the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then a man from the Ansar came with a piece of gold and threw it down, and then the people followed one after another in giving charity, until joy became evident on the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Whoever introduces a good practice and it is acted upon after him, he will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it, without anything being reduced from their rewards. And whoever introduces an evil practice and it is acted upon, he will bear its burden and the burden of those who act upon it, without anything being reduced from their burdens."
