Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2293 — I said: O Messenger of Allah, set

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا زَائِدَةُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اشْتَرِطْ عَلَيَّ فَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِالشَّرْطِ مِنِّي قَالَ: «أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى أَنْ تَعْبُدَ اللهَ لَا تُشْرِكَ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَتُؤْتِيَ الزَّكَاةَ وَتَنْصَحَ الْمُسْلِمَ، وَتُفَارِقَ الْمُشْرِكَ»
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, set the conditions for me, for you know the conditions better than I do. He said: "I take your pledge on the condition that you will worship Allah, not associating anything with Him, establish the prayer, pay the zakah, act sincerely towards the Muslim, and separate yourself from the polytheist."
