The beginning of the tribulation

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he mentioned the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and praised him (peace and blessings be upon him), then he mentioned Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) with good words and praised him, then he mentioned Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and praised and commended him too. Then he said: "After thirty (years), turn your face wherever you wish, for whichever direction you turn it, you will find nothing there but incapacity or wickedness."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: the chain of this report has a break (inqita'), and the narrator named Layth bin Abi Sulaym is da'if (weak). Also, Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Ibn Numayr narrated a hadith to us through Muhammad bin Ishaq; then he mentioned the narration of Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that has already passed in the chapter of Salat al-Duha (the forenoon prayer).

Imam Abu Bakr (bin Abi Shaybah) (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned (with his chain), through Muhammad bin Ishaq, the hadith of Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that has already passed in (the chapter of) Salat al-Duha.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "The millstone of Islam will turn after thirty-five years. Then, if the people agree among themselves on peace and reconciliation without fighting and bloodshed, they will enjoy the blessings and comforts of the world for seventy years."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Dawud narrated it from the hadith of al-Bara' bin Najiyah, from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), with these words: "Then if they perish, their end will be that of those who perished before them, and if their religion stands firm for them, it will remain for seventy years."
And they did not mention these words: "Then if they make peace among themselves without fighting and quarrelling."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen! The millstone of faith is indeed (constantly) turning, so stay with the Book of Allah and go in whichever direction it takes you."
Al-Tabarani recorded this hadith in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. However, its chain contains Suwayd bin Abd al-Aziz, a da'if (weak) narrator, and since it is not established that Yazid bin Marthad heard from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), this report is munqati' (broken) and da'if (weak) in its chain.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, you are now in an era of prophethood and mercy. Soon there will be an era of caliphate and mercy, then after that there will be such and such conditions, until there will be an era of biting kingship that will devour its subjects. They will drink wine and wear silk, and despite that they will continue to be granted help and victory until the Hour is established."
Among the narrators of this hadith, Muhannad al-Qaysi is thiqah (trustworthy). This report points to the beginning of kingship after the Rightly Guided Caliphate, and to the overall help and survival of the Ummah despite the moral evils that arise in it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: One night I went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and we headed towards the garden of Banu so-and-so. I brought him (peace and blessings be upon him) water for ablution, and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) came, I placed the water before him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to look me up and down (that is, he looked at me very attentively and with compassion). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Alas for your condition after me!" Hearing this, I began to weep and said: O Messenger of Allah! Will I remain alive after you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. So when you see that buildings have risen on Mount Sal', go out to the land of the Arabs, that is, the land of Quda'ah, for soon a day will come that will be as near as the length of a bow or two bows, or the distance of a spear or two spears."
The chain of this hadith contains Talhah bin Amr bin Uthman al-Hadrami, who is matruk (abandoned), on account of which this report is da'if (weak).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) that he submitted (in the court of Prophethood): "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Indeed, we find you described (in the earlier scriptures) as standing (on the Day of Resurrection) before your Lord in such a state that your blessed cheeks will be reddened (from intense emotion and modesty), and you will be feeling deep shame before your Lord because of the (evil) deeds that your Ummah will have innovated after you."
This chain is hasan (good).
