The virtue of Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the concession of performing tayammum (dry ablution) with clean earth was revealed for the Muslims, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and said: "Indeed you are most blessed; (because of you) the legal concession of tayammum has been sent down for us."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it in his Musnad, and it is in the section on the virtues of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, I was wearing a simple leather garment, a hawf; then, as soon as he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, modesty and shyness were made to come over me."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it through the chain of Muhammad bin Abbad from Sufyan.
And Imam al-Bazzar narrated it by way of Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad al-Muharibi from Abu Sa'id al-Baqqal, and his narration is more complete than this one.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while I was weeping, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What has made you weep?" I said: "Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) has spoken ill of me." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Fatimah, did you speak ill of Aishah?" She said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not love whom I love and dislike whom I dislike?" She said: "Of course (I certainly do)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I love Aishah, so you too should love her."
Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "We will never say anything to Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that hurts her."

It is narrated from Damrah bin Habib (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was mentioned in the blessed gathering of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave Aishah alone (do not speak about her in such a way), for she fasts often and stands very often (in tahajjud and voluntary prayers), and she is my wife in both this world and the Hereafter."
Al-Harith bin Abi Usamah narrated it in his Musnad; its chain contains Abu Bakr bin Abi Maryam, a da'if (weak) narrator, and the report is mursal; however, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) being the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Paradise is established by other sahih and reliable supporting evidence.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man mentioned the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), in his presence and spoke insolently of her and found fault with her. Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) rebuked him sharply and said: "Be quiet, you ugly and outcast one! Do you hurt the beloved of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?"
Imam al-Tayalisi recorded this report in his Musnad; although one narrator in its chain is unnamed, this stance of Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) in defence of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) is also established by other sahih reports.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted me up onto his blessed shoulder, while the people of Abyssinia were performing al-dirkilah (their particular traditional dance and spear-play)."
This report is in Musnad al-Harith (Bughyat al-Bahith); however, the narrator in its chain, Yahya bin Hashim, has been declared a liar and severely weak by the hadith scholars. Nevertheless, the basis of this incident is established by the authentic hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, which mention the Abyssinians performing spear-play and displays in the Prophet's Mosque on the day of Eid.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she used to say: "Whoever bears hatred and enmity toward me in this world, I will completely disown him and declare myself free of him in the Hereafter."
Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it in Kitab al-Zuhd through Umm Amr bint Hassan (who was a truthful, elderly woman), her husband Sa'id bin Yahya bin Qays, and his father.

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Ubayd bin Umayr that after the sorrowful passing of the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), a man arrived, and Ubayd bin Umayr asked him: "What did you see of the people's grief, sorrow and heartache over her death?" The man replied: "By Allah, their grief was not so very intense." On hearing this, Ubayd bin Umayr (making a wise remark) said: "In truth, only the one for whom she was (in the position of) a mother will grieve and mourn over the death of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)."
[Fada'il al-Sahabah of Imam Ahmad: 1618, its chain is hasan (good)].

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the sound of wailing (at the death) of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), so she sent her slave girl to find out: "Go and see what has happened to her." She came back and said: "She has passed away." At this she said: "May Allah have mercy on her. By the One in whose hand is my soul, she was the most beloved of all people to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), except her father."
Musnad al-Tayalisi: 1618; the narrator in its chain, Zam'ah bin Salih, is da'if (weak), but the content that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the most beloved is established by other sahih hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) and another man with him that the two of them came to the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: "O so-and-so, have you heard the hadith narrated by Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her)?" He said: "Yes, O Mother of the Believers." Then Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Mother of the Believers, what is that?" Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "There are nine virtues in me which no other woman (of my time) has been given, except for the excellences that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, granted to Maryam bint Imran (may Allah be pleased with her); and by Allah, I do not say these things to boast or claim superiority over any of my co-wives."
Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Mother of the Believers, what are those nine qualities?" Sayyidah (Aishah) (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "(First,) the angel came down bearing my image; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me at the age of seven; I was sent to his house at the age of nine; he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not marry any virgin besides me, that is, no one among people shared with him (peace and blessings be upon him) in this; the state of revelation would come upon him (peace and blessings be upon him) even when he (peace and blessings be upon him) and I were under one blanket; I was the most beloved of all women to him (peace and blessings be upon him); verses of the Qur'an were revealed concerning me in a matter over which the Ummah had come close to destruction; I saw Jibril (peace be upon him), while none of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) other than me saw him; and he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away in my house when no one else was present there except the angel and me."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "I have been given nine qualities and virtues that were not given to any other woman except Sayyidah Maryam (peace be upon her)." Then the narrator mentioned a hadith similar to it. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "When revelation descended upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), his family would move away from him, yet revelation would descend upon him (peace and blessings be upon him) even while I was with him under one blanket. Indeed, I am the daughter of his (peace and blessings be upon him) successor (khalifah) and his Siddiq; I was created pure and I am married to one who is pure, and I have been promised forgiveness and a noble provision."
The hadith narrated by Dhakwan, the freed slave of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), about the box of precious items which Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent to her because of the love of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), will come, In sha' Allah, in the chapter on the conquests of Umar al-Faruq.
