It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time he was wearing a cloak of 'sijan' (a heavy green woollen or silk cloth) with gold buttons on it. He came and stood by the blessed head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said (arrogantly): "This companion of yours (meaning Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)) is raising up every son of a shepherd and bringing down every son of a horseman." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of the front parts of his cloak, pulled it and said: "Sit down, for I see on your body the clothes of someone who has no sense. Remember that Allah Almighty did not send any prophet before me who did not herd goats." The narrator said: It was said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Did you also herd goats? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, I too herded goats (of the people of Makkah) for a wage of a few 'qararit' (qirats) and half-qirats." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the Prophet of Allah, Nuh (peace be upon him), said to his son at the time of his death: 'O my son! I am going to give you a bequest,'" (to the end of the hadith).
Imam Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili narrated this hadith in his "Musnad"; its narrator al-Sa'qab bin Zuhayr is thiqah (trustworthy). The part about herding goats is also in Sahih al-Bukhari (2262), while the part about the bequest of Nuh (peace be upon him) is narrated in detail in Musnad Ahmad and other books of hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never said to me about something he (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked: "How bad and ugly is what you have done," nor about something that pleased him (peace and blessings be upon him): "How fine and excellent is what you have done."
With this wording this hadith is gharib (unusual).
