Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3836 — The forbearance of the Prophet ﷺ

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ ، ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ ابْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، قَالَ : مَا قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِشَيْءٍ يَكْرَهُهُ : مَا أَقْبَحَ مَا صَنَعْتَ ، وَلَا لِشَيْءٍ يُعْجِبُهُ : مَا أَحْسَنَ مَا صَنَعْتَ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never said to me about something he (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked: "How bad and ugly is what you have done," nor about something that pleased him (peace and blessings be upon him): "How fine and excellent is what you have done."
