وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْجَزَرِيُّ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، رَفَعَ الْحَدِيثَ : " لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُتَسَوِّفَاتِ " ؟ قِيلَ : وَمَنِ الْمُتَسَوِّفَاتِ ؟ قِيلَ : " الرَّجُلُ يَدْعُو الْمَرْأَةَ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ ، فَتَقُولُ : سَوْفَ ، سَوْفَ ، حَتَّى تَغْلِبَ عَيْنُهُ ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has cursed the women who procrastinate." It was asked: Who are these procrastinating women (al-mutasawwifat)? A reply was given: "She is the woman whose husband calls her to his bed and she keeps delaying, saying 'I'm coming soon, I'm coming soon,' until her husband's eyes close and he falls asleep."
In this blessed hadith a severe warning is stated for the woman who is needlessly slack and procrastinates in fulfilling her husband's lawful rights, so that no bitterness or deviation arises in domestic life.

وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ أَنْ تَنَامَ حَتَّى تَعْرِضَ نَفْسَهَا عَلَى زَوْجِهَا " . قَالَ : وَكَيْفَ تَعْرِضُ نَفْسَهَا عَلَى زَوْجِهَا ؟ قَالَ : " تَخْلَعُ ثِيَابَهَا ، وَتَدْخُلُ مَعَهُ فِي لِحَافِهِ ، فَتُلْزِقُ جِلْدَهَا بِجِلْدِهِ ، فَإِذَا فَعَلَتْ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ عَرَضَتْ ".
With this same chain it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not lawful for a woman to go to sleep (at night) until she has offered herself to her husband." It was asked: How should she offer herself to her husband? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She takes off her (outer) clothes, enters under his quilt with her husband and brings her skin into contact with his skin; when she has done this, she has indeed offered herself."
The imams and commentators of hadith say at this point that the purpose of this prophetic instruction is to see to the husband's emotional and physical contentment within the cloak of modesty in married life, so that the relationship between husband and wife becomes stable and the husband's chastity and purity are preserved.

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ الْكُوفِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ الرَّازِيِّ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُسَوِّفَةَ وَالْمُفَسِّلَةَ ; فَأَمَّا الْمُسَوِّفَةُ فَالَّتِي إِذَا أَرَادَهَا زَوْجُهَا قَالَتْ : سَوْفَ الْآنَ . وَأَمَّا الْمُفَسِّلَةُ فَالَّتِي إِذَا أَرَادَهَا زَوْجُهَا قَالَتْ : إِنِّي حَائِضٌ ، وَلَيْسَتْ بِحَائِضٍ ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the musawwifah and the mufassilah. As for the musawwifah, she is the woman who, when her husband calls her (for intimacy), says: 'I'm just coming' (and keeps putting him off); and the mufassilah is the woman who, when her husband wants marital relations with her, says (offering a false excuse): 'I am menstruating,' although in reality she is not menstruating.
Although the imams of hadith have declared this narration weak because of the presence of Yahya bin al-Ala al-Razi in its chain, putting off the husband's lawful request and resorting to lies are severely disliked acts, morally and in the Shari'ah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you has intercourse with his wife, let him show complete sincerity and warmth (in fulfilling the relationship); then if he finishes before his wife, let him by no means hurry (to withdraw), so that she too can complete her satisfaction."
Imam Abu Hammam also reported a similar narration from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) through another chain, by way of Abd al-Majid bin Abd al-Aziz bin Abi Rawwad from Ibn Jurayj.
