Ishaq said: Abdah bin Sulayman informed us from Hisham bin Urwah, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) bought from a Bedouin a camel for slaughter, or a she-camel, in exchange for one wasq of Ajwah dates, while those (dates) were not with him (peace and blessings be upon him). The Bedouin came to him demanding payment, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed it, whereupon the Bedouin began crying out: "Oh, treachery! Oh, treachery!" The Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) rebuked him, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave him, for the one who has a right is entitled to speak." He did this two or three times; then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take him to Khawlah bint Hakim, and she was among the first women to emigrate, and ask her for a loan, for she gathers Ajwah dates." So they went to her and she paid the due in full. Then the Bedouin returned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "You have paid in full and given in the best manner." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are not the best among you those who are best in the sight of Allah? Indeed, the best of creation in the sight of Allah are those who pay in full and give with good grace and generosity."
Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) borrowed a camel from a Bedouin; then he related a similar hadith, and in it he said: "Then the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) scolded him," and he did not mention "among the emigrant women".

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives respite to someone in hardship will have a charity for every day." Then, after that, he said: "Whoever gives respite to someone in hardship will have, for every day, a charity equal to (the debt) for which he gave him respite." Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is this (saying)? He said: "Before the term of repayment arrives, one charity is given for every day; and after the term has passed (if he grants further respite), for every day a charity equal to the amount (of the debt) for which he gave respite is given."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man was taken to the gate of Paradise, and he raised his head and saw that written on the gate of Paradise was: The reward of charity is tenfold, and giving a single loan is eighteenfold; the reason is that the one who asks for a loan comes to you only when he is in need, whereas charity sometimes falls into the hand of a rich person."

It is narrated from Ibn Ka'b bin Malik, from his father (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by him while he was clinging to a man (pressing him hard) over (a debt of) two uqiyahs, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured like this, meaning: "Remit half of the debt from him." (He then mentioned the rest of the) hadith.
I (Ibn Hajar) say: This narration is in the Sahih (of Bukhari and Muslim), except for his words "two uqiyahs".
