It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives respite to someone in hardship will have a charity for every day." Then, after that, he said: "Whoever gives respite to someone in hardship will have, for every day, a charity equal to (the debt) for which he gave him respite." Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is this (saying)? He said: "Before the term of repayment arrives, one charity is given for every day; and after the term has passed (if he grants further respite), for every day a charity equal to the amount (of the debt) for which he gave respite is given."
