It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The words most often said by me and by all the prophets before me in the plain of Arafat are these: 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir' (There is none worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without any partner; His is the dominion and His is all praise, and He has full power over all things). 'Allahummaj'al fi sam'i nuran, wa fi basari nuran, wa fi qalbi nuran' (O Allah, place light in my hearing, place light in my sight and place light in my heart). 'Allahummashrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri' (O Allah, open my breast for me and make my affair easy for me); cf. "My Lord, expand for me my breast, and ease for me my task" [Surah Ta-Ha: 25-26]. 'Wa a'udhu bika min waswasis-suduri wa shatatil-umur' (And I seek refuge in You from the whisperings of the hearts and from the scattering and disorder of affairs). 'Allahumma a'udhu bika min sharri ma yaliju fil-layli, wa min sharri ma yaliju fin-nahari, wa min sharri ma tahubbu bihir-riyahu, wa sharri bawa'iqid-dahr' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil that enters in the night, and from the evil that enters in the day, and from the calamities that the winds carry, and from the destructive and ruinous misfortunes of time)."
Imam Ishaq bin Rahwayh recorded this narration in his Musnad. This supplication sets out the best manner of affirming the Oneness of Allah and seeking comprehensive well-being on the blessed occasion of Arafat, although the narrator in its chain, Musa bin Ubaydah, has been declared da'if (weak) by the Imams of narrator criticism (al-jarh wa al-ta'dil).

According to the narration of Imam Abu Ya'la, Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are no days more virtuous with Allah, Glorified and Exalted, than the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, are these days more virtuous even than fighting jihad in the path of Allah for the same number of days?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, they are more virtuous even than fighting jihad in the path of Allah for that many days, except for the fighter who is rolled in the dust of the battlefield (against the enemy), that is, who attains martyrdom. And there is no day more virtuous with Allah Almighty than the Day of Arafah. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, descends (on that day) to the lowest heaven and says: 'Look at these servants of Mine, dishevelled and covered in dust, (coming) for Hajj, "coming from every distant pass" [Surah al-Hajj: 27]. They have seen neither My mercy nor My punishment.' So on no day other than the Day of Arafah are so many people freed from the Fire."
This blessed hadith establishes the greatness of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and especially the unparalleled virtue of the Day of Arafah, on which the all-embracing mercy of the Most Generous Lord surges and He takes pride before the angels in forgiving His servants who are performing Hajj.

In another narration it is stated explicitly that he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood (in wuquf) at Arafat and, while supplicating, raised both his blessed hands up to the upper part of his chest.

It is narrated from Sa'id, attributing it to the Prophet (marfu'an), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), on the morning of Muzdalifah, ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to call out among the people that everyone should be silent. So when he had done so, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has shown you great generosity and kindness in this gathering of yours. He has forgiven the wrongdoers among you for the sake of the righteous among you, and He has granted the righteous among you everything they asked for. Now depart from here in the name of Allah ('Bismillah', In the name of Allah)."
According to the scholars of hadith, 'Jam'' refers to the place Muzdalifah, and this blessed hadith contains, for the pilgrims, the great glad tidings of general forgiveness and the acceptance of their Hajj from Allah, Glorified and Exalted.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty takes pride before the angels in those standing in the plain of Arafat, and He says: 'O My angels, just look at these servants of Mine who, with dishevelled hair and dust-covered faces, have come to My presence "from every distant pass" (Surah al-Hajj: 27), that is, covering long distances by every far-off road. Bear witness that I have accepted their supplication, I have forgiven the sinners among them on the intercession of the righteous among them, and I have given the righteous among them everything they asked of Me, except the rights that they owe one another.' Then, when they departed from Arafat and reached Muzdalifah, they again turned to Allah Almighty in weeping, supplication and earnest entreaty. Then Allah Almighty said: 'O My angels, these servants of Mine have asked of Me again, so bear witness that I have granted acceptance to their supplications, I have forgiven the wrongdoers among them for the sake of the righteous among them, I have given the righteous among them all that they asked for, and I Myself have also taken responsibility for the mutual rights and claims between them' (that is, I Myself will satisfy the one who is owed and remove their burdens)."
Imam Abu Ya'la has also narrated something close in meaning in his narration, in which it is stated explicitly: "I have given the righteous among them all the things they asked of Me, except those mutual rights." It also contains these words: "O My angels, My servants stood and turned back to Me again with complete longing and seeking, so I make you witnesses that I have answered their call," to the end.
