It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said (expressing amazement and as a warning): "One of you performs ablution after eating food (out of concern for outward cleanliness or ablution), yet does not perform ablution (that is, repentance and purification) for the indecent, vulgar and obscene word that he utters with his tongue?"
Imam Musaddad bin Musarhad recorded this narration in his Musnad; all the narrators of its chain are thiqat (trustworthy), and this statement indicates the importance of purifying oneself from the slips of the tongue.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer, and (during the prayer) wind passed from someone. At that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said (after completing the prayer): "I firmly command the one who passed this wind to perform ablution (again) and repeat his prayer."
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said (to conceal that person's identity): (O Commander of the Believers,) will you not firmly command all those who heard its sound to perform ablution and repeat their prayer? Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have said something excellent. 'Jazakallahu khayran' (May Allah Almighty reward you with good)." So he (may Allah be pleased with him) commanded them all to do just that (that is, to perform ablution and repeat the prayer).

Maymun bin Mihran narrates from a man who saw Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "He put his finger into his nose, and it came out smeared with blood, or with a trace of blood on it; then he prayed (in that state)."
