It is narrated from a servant of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "This is what I have preserved for you of his (peace and blessings be upon him) practice: when he (peace and blessings be upon him) had prayed and then remained seated in the mosque until the next prayer came, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform a light ablution inside the mosque itself."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it in his Musnad (131). In its chain, the narrator Salih bin Umar is thiqah (trustworthy), and the Companion's name being unspecified does not harm the authenticity of the hadith, since all the Companions are upright.
