Sayyiduna Laqit bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came as a delegate to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and with him was a companion of his named Nahik bin Asim bin Malik bin al-Muntafiq. Sayyiduna Laqit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: My companion and I set out until we came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the month of Rajab had passed. We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when, having finished the morning prayer, he stood among the people to deliver a sermon. He said: "O people, for the past four days I have kept my voice reserved for you so that I may make you hear. Is there any man whom his people have sent, and whose people have said to him: 'Find out for us what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) says'? (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) Beware! It may be that a person has been distracted by being lost in his own thoughts, or by talking with his companion, or by things that lead astray. Beware! I will be asked whether I conveyed the message. Beware! Listen and you will live. Beware! Sit down. Beware! Sit down." So the people sat down. My companion and I stood up and remained standing until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his full attention towards us. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, do you not have knowledge of the unseen?" The narrator says: By Allah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed and shook his head, and he realised that I wanted to find a slip in him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Regarding the unseen, your Lord has kept five things to His own majesty; none knows them except Allah Almighty." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his blessed hand. I asked: "What are they?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Knowledge of death (that is, knowledge of who will die and when): He knows about the death of each one of you, and you do not know about it. Knowledge of the sperm when it is in the womb: the Lord knows about it and you do not know about it. Knowledge of what will happen tomorrow: what you will eat tomorrow, you do not know it. And knowledge of the day the rain will come down: He looks upon you while you are in hardship and anxious, and He begins to laugh, because He knows that your situation will soon change." Sayyiduna Laqit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We will not be deprived of good from a Lord who laughs." (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) "And knowledge of the Day of the Hour." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, teach us some of what you teach the people, for we are a people whose words are not believed by anyone of the tribe of Madhhij, the tribe that dominates us, nor by the people of the tribe of Khath'am, who are our allies, nor by the people of our own tribe to whom we belong." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Some time will pass over you, then your Prophet will pass away. Then some time will pass over you, then a mighty cry (that is, the sound of the blowing of the Trumpet) will be sent. By your Lord, that cry will destroy everything on the face of the earth, and the angels who are with your Lord. Your Lord will go around the earth, and all the lands will be empty for Him. Then your Lord will send down rain from the sky, which will come from near the Throne. By your Lord, as a result of that rain, whoever was killed anywhere and whoever was buried anywhere, all their graves will split open, and that rain will bring him back to life from the side of his head, and he (that is, every person) will sit upright. The Lord will say: 'How long was the state you were in?' The servant will say: 'O my Lord, from yesterday evening until today.' He will say this about his life, and he will think that he is talking with his family." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, how will He bring us back to life after the winds, decay and wild beasts have torn us to pieces?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give you an example of that from among the blessings of Allah Almighty. You look at a piece of land that is barren and desolate, and you think that it will never flourish. Then your Lord sends rain from the sky, and after only a few days you look at the land and there is water on it. By your Lord, the One who can bring forth the plants of the earth by means of water also has the power to create you by means of water. You will come out of your graves and out of the places where you were struck down, and you will see Allah Almighty and He will see you." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, how can it be that we, who will fill the whole earth, and the Lord, who is a single Being, will look at Him and He will look at us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give you an example of this from among the blessings of Allah Almighty. The sun and the moon are a small sign from Allah Almighty; in one and the same moment you see them both and they both see you, and you face no obstruction in seeing them. By your God, He has more power to see you and for you to see Him than they have for you to see them and for them to see you, while you face no obstruction in seeing them." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, when we present ourselves before our Lord, what will the Lord do with us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will be presented before Him with your records of deeds open, and nothing concerning you will be hidden from Him. Your Lord will take water in a handful and sprinkle it towards you. By your Lord, a drop of it will fall on the face of every one of you. As for the Muslim, that drop will make his face like a white sheet; as for the disbeliever, that drop will strike his nose and make him like black coal. Beware! Then your Prophet will come, and the righteous people will come behind him, and they will go walking over a bridge made of fire. One of you steps on an ember and says 'Ouch!', and at that time your Lord will say: 'This is its (that is, the reckoning's or the punishment's) appointed time.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then you will come to the Pool of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); you will come in a state of thirst, and whoever drinks water from it, by Allah, will never feel thirst. By your Lord, whoever of you stretches out his hand, a cup will come into his hand, and it (that is, drinking from the Pool of Kawthar) will purify a person from excrement, urine and filth. The sun and the moon will be held back, and you will not see either of them." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, then how will we be able to see (without light)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Just as you can see at the time before the sun rises, when the earth and the mountains have become lit up." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what recompense will we be given for our bad deeds and our good deeds?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The recompense of a good deed will be tenfold, and the recompense of a bad deed will be its like (that is, onefold), unless Allah Almighty pardons that too (then it is up to His will)." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, will it be either Paradise or Hell?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. By your Lord, Hell has seven gates, and between every two of its gates there is such a distance that a rider could cover that distance only by travelling for seventy years." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, when we go into Paradise, what will we find?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rivers of pure honey, rivers of drink from which there will be neither stomach-ache nor regret, rivers of milk whose taste has not changed, water that has not become foul, and fruits about which, by your Lord, you have no knowledge, and along with it further good things, and pure spouses." The narrator says: I said: "Will we be given them in Paradise? Or will they be women who set things right (that is, who do household work)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Righteous women will be given to righteous men. You will take pleasure in those women just as you take pleasure in the world, and they will take pleasure in you, except that there will be no bearing of children." Sayyiduna Laqit (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the farthest thing that we will reach and at which there will be an end?" But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him no answer. The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, on what shall I pledge allegiance to you?" The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stretched out his blessed hand and said: "On establishing the prayer, giving zakah, keeping apart from the polytheists, and on the condition that you will not associate anyone else with Allah Almighty by taking him as a deity." The narrator says: I said: "Will we have whatever lies between the East and the West?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew back his hand and spread his fingers, thinking that I might lay down a condition he would not accept. I said: "We will settle in it (between the East and the West) wherever we wish, and every person will bear the penalty of his own deed (that is, the penalty for one person's crime will not be imposed on another)." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stretched out his blessed hand and said: "You have that: you may live wherever you wish, and you will only have to bear the punishment for what you yourself have committed." The narrator says: As we began to return from him, he said: "By your God, these people are the most God-fearing of all, among the former and the latter." Sayyiduna Ka'b bin al-Khudariyyah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Banu Ka'b bin Kilab, asked him: "O Messenger of Allah, who are they?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Banu al-Muntafiq, who are worthy of it." The narrator says: Then we came back and turned towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I said: "O Messenger of Allah, for those who departed from the world in the Time of Ignorance, will there be any good for any one of them?" The narrator says: Then a man from Quraysh spoke up: "By Allah, your father al-Muntafiq will be in Hell." The narrator says: It was as if a fire had broken out between my skin, my face and my flesh because of what that man had said about my father in front of all the people. At first I intended to say: "O Messenger of Allah, what about your father?" But the other would have been the greater ignorance. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what will become of your family (that is, those members of the family who died in the Time of Ignorance)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My family too. By Allah, whenever you pass by the grave of any polytheist from Banu Amir or from Quraysh, say: 'Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent me to you to inform you of something that will displease you: you will be dragged into Hell on your faces and on your bellies.'" The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, why will this be done to them, when those people used to do good and they thought that they were setting things right?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The reason for this is that Allah Almighty sent at the end of every seven nations (the narrator says: that is, sent a Prophet), so whoever disobeys his Prophet will be among those who go astray, and whoever obeys his Prophet will be among the rightly guided."
Abdullah recorded this narration, and Tabarani recorded something similar to it. Of Abdullah's two routes, one has a connected (muttasil) chain and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), while the other chain and the chain of Tabarani are mursal, reported from Asim bin Laqit that Sayyiduna Laqit (may Allah be pleased with him) (had this incident).

Hadith Takhrij«أخرجه مسند أحمد برقم: 15773، وأخرجه المستدرك على الصحيحين برقم: 8726»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On a specific, appointed day, Allah Almighty will gather all the earlier and the later people. They will remain standing for forty years, their gazes raised towards the sky, waiting for the reckoning. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will descend in the shades of the clouds from the Throne to the Kursi. Then a caller will announce: 'O people, were you not pleased with your Lord, who created you, who gave you provision, and who commanded you to worship Him and not associate anyone with Him? Now let each one of you go to the one with whom he was associated and whom he used to worship in the world. Is this not a just decision from your Lord?' The people will reply: 'Yes indeed.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then every people will go to what they used to worship in the world and in which they believed (or with which they were associated). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those people will go, and the things they used to worship will be brought before them in likeness. Some of them will go to the sun, some of them will go to the moon, and others to idols made of stone and to other such things which they used to worship. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: For those who used to worship Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him), the devil associated with Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him) will be given the form of Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him); for those who used to worship Sayyiduna Uzayr (peace be upon him), the devil associated with Sayyiduna Uzayr (peace be upon him) will be given his form; and only Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Ummah will remain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then the Lord will come to them in a likeness and say: 'What is the matter? Why do you not go, when the other people have gone?' They will say: 'We have a Deity whom we have not seen.' The Lord will say: 'If you see Him, will you recognise Him?' They will reply: 'Between us and Him there is a particular sign; when we see it, we will recognise it (that is, the sign).' The Lord will say: 'What is that sign?' They will say: 'The Shin will be uncovered.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At that time the Shin will be uncovered, and everyone who sees it will fall into prostration. Some people will remain whose backs will be like the horns of cattle; they will intend to prostrate but will not be able to, although (in the world) they used to be called to prostration while they were sound. Then the Lord will say: 'Raise your heads.' They will raise their heads, and then they will be given light according to their deeds. Among them will be some whose light will be like a great mountain, and that light will go before him. To some of them will be given a light less than that. To some of them will be given a light like a date palm before him. To some of them will be given even less than that, until the last of them will be given his light at the big toe of his foot; it will sometimes shine and sometimes go out. When it shines, the man will move his foot forward, and when it goes out, the man will stand still. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Lord will be ahead of them, until their passage (that is, the passage of one of them) will be through the Fire, and a mark will remain like the mark of the edge of a sword. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Lord will say: 'Pass over!' Then they will pass according to the measure of their light. Some of them will pass in the blink of an eye, some will pass like lightning, some will pass like a cloud, some will pass like a shooting star, some will pass like the wind, some will pass like a running horse, and some will pass like a running man, until the person passes who was given his light on the upper part of his feet. He will crawl across on his face, his two hands and his feet; one hand will hang down and the other hand will cling (to the Bridge), one foot will hang down and the other will cling, and the fire will be catching his sides. He will remain in this state until he escapes. When he escapes, he will stop beside it and say: 'All praise belongs to Allah, who has given me what He has not given anyone, in that after I had seen it (that is, Hell), He saved me from it (that is, Hell).' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then that person will be taken to a pool near the gate of Paradise. He will bathe, and then the fragrance and the colours of Paradise will come to him. He will see through the gap in the door what is in Paradise and say: 'O my Lord, admit me into Paradise.' Allah Almighty will say to him: 'Are you asking for Paradise, when I have saved you from Hell?' He will say: 'O my Lord, place a barrier between me and it so that I do not hear its sound.' Then that person will enter Paradise and see a dwelling ahead of him (here the narrator is in doubt about one word), and it will seem to him like a dream. He will say: 'O my Lord, grant me this dwelling.' The Lord will say to him: 'If I give you this, you will ask for something else besides it.' He will say: 'No! By Your Might, I will not ask for anything besides it. What dwelling could be more beautiful than this?' He will be given it and will begin to live there. Further on from there he will see another dwelling, even more beautiful than that, and he will say: 'O my Lord, give me this place.' Allah Almighty will say to him: 'If I give you this, you will ask for something else besides it.' He will say: 'No! By Your Might, O my Lord, I will not ask for anything besides it. What house could be more beautiful than this?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He will be given that house. Further on from there he will see another house, even more beautiful than that, and he will say: 'O my Lord, give me this house.' Allah Almighty will say: 'If I give you this, you will ask for something else besides it.' He will say: 'No! By Your Might, I will not ask for anything besides it. What could be more beautiful than this?' That house will be given to him, he will begin to live there, and then he will fall silent (that is, after that he will not ask for anything more). Allah Almighty will say: 'What is the matter? Why do you not ask for anything?' He will reply: 'O my Lord, I have asked You so many times that I now feel shy before You, and I have sworn before You so many times that I now feel shy before You.' Allah Almighty will say: 'Are you not pleased that I give you whatever was in the world from the day I created it until the day I annihilated it, and (along with it) ten times as much again?' That servant will say: 'Are You mocking me, when You are the Lord of Might?' (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) Then the Lord of Might will laugh at that servant's words." The narrator narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever he reached this point in this hadith, he would laugh. A man said to him: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, I have heard you narrate this hadith many times, and whenever you reach this point you laugh." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrate this hadith many times, and whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached this point in this hadith, he would laugh until his back teeth became visible. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then the Lord will say: 'No (that is, I am not mocking you); rather, I have power over that. Ask!' The servant will say: 'Join me with the people.' The Lord will say: 'Join the people.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He will go running through Paradise, until, when he comes near the people, a palace made of pearl will appear before him, and he will fall into prostration. It will be said to him: 'Raise your head. What is the matter with you?' He will say: 'I have seen my Lord' (the narrator is in doubt, or perhaps the words are:) 'My Lord has appeared before me.' It will be said to him: 'This is one of your houses.' Then he will meet a person and intend to prostrate to him. It will be said to him: 'Stop!' He will say: 'I thought you were one of the angels.' That other person will say: 'I am one of your stewards and one of your servants; under me are a thousand people whose duty is the same as mine.' Then that person will walk on ahead until the door of the palace is opened for him. That palace will be made of a hollow pearl; its roof, its doors, its locks and its keys will be of the same. Before him will appear a green gem whose inner part is red. In it there will be seventy doors, each door leading to another green gem with an inner lining, each gem being of a colour different from the other. In every gem there will be couches, wives and servants. The lowest in rank of the houris there will have seventy garments on her body, and the marrow of her shin will be visible through all of them. The liver of that houri will be the man's mirror, and the man's liver will be that houri's mirror. When he turns his attention away from her for a moment and then looks again, her beauty in his eyes will have increased seventyfold compared to before. That person will say to the houri: 'By Allah, your beauty in my eyes has increased seventyfold,' and the houri will say to him: 'By Allah, your beauty too has increased seventyfold in my eyes.' Then it will be said to that person: 'Look out!' He will look out, and it will be said to him: 'Your dominion extends a distance of one hundred years' journey, and your sight can reach through it.'"
The narrator narrates: At this Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Ka'b, are you not listening to what hadith Ibn Umm Abd is narrating to us about the lowest in rank and status of the people of Paradise? Then what will be the state of the one whose rank is high?" Ka'b said: "O Commander of the Believers, they will receive things which no eye has seen and of which no ear has heard. Allah Almighty has made a place in which He has placed wives, fruits and drinks as He willed, and then He closed them off. None of Allah Almighty's creation has seen that place, neither Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) nor any other angel besides him has seen it." Then Ka'b recited this verse: "No soul knows what has been kept hidden for them of the coolness of the eyes, as a reward for what they used to do."
Ka'b related: "Allah Almighty has created two more gardens besides that, adorned them as He willed, and shown them to whomever He willed of His creation. Then He has said: Whoever's record of deeds is in 'Illiyyin will stay in that place which no one has seen, so much so that when a person from the people of 'Illiyyin comes out and goes about his dominion, the light of his face will be felt inside every single tent of Paradise. The people of Paradise will rejoice at his fragrance and say: 'How excellent this fragrance is! This is the fragrance of a man from the people of 'Illiyyin who has come out to tour his dominion.'"
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Woe to you, O Ka'b! These hearts are getting out of control; bring them under control." Then Ka'b said: "On the Day of Resurrection Hell will give such a roar that every angel brought near and every Prophet sent will fall upon his knees, so much so that Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him), the Intimate Friend of Allah Almighty, will say: 'O my Lord, I am concerned for myself, I am concerned for myself.' (Ka'b said:) Even if you were to add the deeds of seventy Prophets to your own deeds, you would still think that you would not be saved."

In one narration the words are: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People will stand before the Lord of all the worlds for 40 years, their gazes raised upwards, waiting for the judgment." After this the narrator reported a narration similar to the one reported by Zayd bin Abi Unaysah. Tabarani recorded all of these narrations through various routes; the narrators of one of them are the narrators of the Sahih except for Abu Khalid al-Dalani, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
