Reports on the terror of the Rising and the severity of the Day of Resurrection

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not wish for death, for the terror of what one beholds after death (al-muttala') is severe." After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith, which has already appeared earlier in the Book of Repentance, in the chapter on long life.
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it, and the chains of both are jayyid (good).

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection people will be brought to life while the sky sends down light rain upon them."
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Abi al-Sahba', whom Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned without mentioning any criticism (jarh) of him. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection the sun will come as near as the distance of a mile, and its heat will increase by such and such, until the insects will boil because of it just as cooking pots boil. People in that situation will be drenched in sweat in such a way that the sweat will be according to their sins: it will reach the ankles of some of them, the shins of some, the waist of some, and some will be bridled by the sweat."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except for al-Qasim bin Abd al-Rahman, and more than one declared him thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "(On the Day of Resurrection) the sun will come so close to the earth that people will sweat. There will be some people whose sweat will reach their heels, some whose sweat will reach half of their shins, some whose sweat will reach their knees, some whose sweat will reach the lower part of their belly, some whose sweat will reach their flanks, some whose sweat will reach their shoulders, some whose sweat will reach their necks, and some who will be immersed in that sweat." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated with his blessed hand that one's mouth will be bridled with sweat. The narrator says: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating in this way that some people will be covered by their sweat; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this indicating with his blessed hand.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and the chain of al-Tabarani is jayyid (good).

Sa'id bin Umayr al-Ansari narrates: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him). One of them said to the other: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mention what the state of people's sweat will be on the Day of Resurrection. One of them mentioned that a person's sweat will reach his earlobe, and the other mentioned that the sweat will have bridled him. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) indicated that it will be like this, from the earlobe to his mouth. The narrator Abu Asim indicated with his two fingers that it will be like this, and he said: In my view both forms are the same. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) is mentioned in the Sahih.
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Sa'id bin Umayr, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna al-Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection the sun will come so close that it will be at the distance of a mile from people, and its heat will be increased, which will scorch them. People in that situation will be in varying amounts of sweat according to their deeds: one person's sweat will reach his ankles, another's sweat will reach his knees, another's sweat will reach the lower part of his belly, and another will be bridled by the sweat." The narrator says: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicate with his blessed hand towards his mouth.
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher Ibrahim bin Muhammad Irq al-Himsi, whom I do not know; the hadith of the remaining narrators of this report is hasan (good).

Muhammad bin al-Furat narrates: Two men brought their case before Muharib. The narrator says: A man gave testimony against one of them, and the one against whom testimony was given said: By Allah, as far as I know, he is a truthful man, and if you were to inquire about him, he would be praised and his goodness would be mentioned; but he has given false testimony against me, and I cannot work out what has emboldened him to do this. So Muharib bin Dithar said to that man: O man, fear Allah Almighty, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The feet of a false witness will not move from their place before Hell becomes obligatory for him; and on the Day of Resurrection the bird will beat its wings and throw out what is in its belly, though it has no need (of it)." The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at that time admonishing a man. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah narrated the incident of the false witness.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it from that Companion in abridged form, except that he recorded these words: "The birds will throw out what is in their bellies, though they will have committed no wrong." (The following words are perhaps those of Muharib bin Dithar:) So beware of it (false testimony). Its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Furat, who is a kadhdhab (liar).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: On the Day of Resurrection the whole earth will be fire, and Paradise will be beyond it; people will see its maidens and its cups. By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Abdullah, a person will pour out so much sweat that his body will be immersed in sweat in the earth, and the sweat of someone will reach his nose, while his reckoning will not yet have taken place. People asked: O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what will be the reason for this? He said: The situation that people will face.
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a mawquf narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
